Chapter 19

I felt the numbness slowly fading as I tried to sat up, but failed miserably.

I turned my head to side and looked at the beeping thing what kind of told how alive I was. Yeah, funny, but not now.

I heard doors opening, and soon in my sight walked a nurse, checking up on me and writing something down.

-"Where's Neil and Arch, and- Uh, Regina?" I asked, my voice dry.

-"Here's water." Was the inly thing the nurse said, as she handed me a cup.

I thanked her and drank from it, still wondering where everybody else were.

I felt like my head was gonna explode. It hurt so much and so badly, I just wanted to fall back sleep, but as much as I wanted that, I couldn't.

Not wanting to see nightmares again, and wanting to know where everyone is.

-"Neil I as same as you, Arch too, they're doing very well, compared to Regina. She's in coma, for now." The nurse finally said, slowly catching my expressions.

My face went from relieved to alarmed.

Regina is in- coma?

I didn't thought it would be that bad. Sure, bad things always happens when I don't want it to, but I'm used to it.

Don't worry. You're used to it, Sim.

You're gonna be fine, they're gonna be fine.

Everything's will be okay.

I know it won't. But it's the only way I know how to stop myself from getting into depression.

I breathed out slowly, as the doctor came in.

-"How are you feeling?" He asked.

-"I'm fine." I said, my expressions blank.

-"You're free to go home along with Neil. Arch will have to stay here for a while longer, but you're gonna manage without him." The doctor said again.

-"And Regina?" I asked, and looked over at him.

-"She's in coma. I'm sorry. She's gonna stay till she wakes up, or till she no longer can afford to be here. Then we're gonna plug the sistem out." He said, with no emotions.

Probably used to people dying.

And I, kinda, was too.

I saw my parents die in front of me.

And that was kind of traumatic. Especially for a kid.

I winced when tried to sit up, and the nurse helped me sat straight.

I heard annoying beeping of the machine as I looked at the doctor, trying to figure out what he's thinking.

But I couldn't.

-"I'm free to go? Where's Neil?" I asked, just to be sure.

-"He's in a hallway, waiting for you. I can help you up." The nurse said, as the doctor walked out.

Soon I was walking out of the hospital with Neil, wondering how we are gonna get back to our house.

-"Are we gonna take the cab, or can you call Mateo?" Neil asked, standing besides me.

-"I don't think he will answer. It's a school day, he's probably sleeping." I said, altought it was past noon, the school probably ended a hour ago.

I did tried to call him, but he didn't pick up, as I said-

Never mind. He answered.

-"Hey baby." Mateo said, his voice dry from sleeping.
