Chapter 4

Lena

The day was about to end,the sun went down and the jungel got darker and darker,every minute.Lena and Winn were really tired,but for the little Ruby it was the hardest.This girl lost her mum today,her home and she saw how many people died.She walked the whole day and that must have exhausted her even more.And she stayed positive,it was like she exactly knew Lenas pain and wanted to take it away from her.Ruby havent cried since she found out her mum wont come back, even if it was the most horrible day of the young girls life.Lena admired this small girl for her strengh and kindness,because she wanted to do nothing more then crying and giving up.

She smiled as Ruby felt asleep on her back and tried to walk really soft so that the girl could get some rest.Her knees shivered a little but she knew she could walk a little more.

While walking she thought about her sister.Her mind was filled with guilt and grief,as she tried to figure out what the last words of her sister meant."What is an Zor El?Why should i find this Zor El?Is it a city she never heared about?Or maybe a person?Is it maybe a group of persons?How could Lexi know about this Zor El"

She had no idea,but she was resolved to find it.She whispered this word."Zor El"... she tried to pronounce it,she tried to hear if it sounds familiar in any way.What language is that? What could it mean?

The sad truth was,that Lena had no idea,not yet.

While Lena was lost in thoughts,Winn suddenly stopped his march and turned towards her"Hey i think we should rest,ok?You two did this really great but even i am really tired and I digged the fields all day.You two are surely exhausted,i think this tree is good for a rest,isnt it?" He smiled at her,as if he wanted to say its ok to rest now.As if they did enough for today.

He pointed on an big old tree,the crown was up to about 200 Meters and the branches were so big.The roots were covered with moss and it seemed really soft and fluffy somehow.A good place to rest,Winn knew what he was talking about.She picked some more moss together and made a comfy bed for Ruby.Carefully she carried Ruby from her back to the selfmade bed and laid her down as soft as if she was made out of glass.

It was getting colder as the sun dissappeared,they knew they would need a fire for the night.A fire was riskful,it was a clear sign that someone is out there in the woods,and if reign is still searching for them,it would be really easy to find them that minute. Lenas jacket was burned and smelled as hell,but more important it was able to keep Ruby warm.The girl started shaking a little when the sun was completely gone,so Lena decided that at least one of them should get enough sleep this night.She took of her jacket and used it as a blanket for Ruby.It was still warm from Lenas body-warmth,and Ruby snuggled herself into it unconsciously.A sight left the girls lips,while Lena started to shake.

Winn noticed and said:"soo lets make a fire soon,ok?I will go get some dry wood,would you mind to look for something that burns easily as an igniter?"Lena nodded and started to look after some dry leafes which was not really easy in a wet jungle.She always was in a range where she saw the peacefully sleeping Ruby.

She collected a lot of dry leafs and the sat down next to the sleeping Ruby.She sat down and waited for Winn to come back.He already said it could take a bit of time finding dry wood in the jungle so Lena wasnt suprised that he needed a bit of time.

Each minute she sat there in silence it was more hard to keep her eyes opened.There was a huge urge to close her eyes,even if it was really really cold now.And without knowing what happened she laid down,closed her arms around Ruby,just to let her know someone is there,to keep her warm and safe.Then she drifted away.Her dreams were full of ashes and screaming.She could smell the burned flesh and was about to threw up.And then there was her sister.Lexis eyes,filled with tears,Lexis voice,full of anger,Lexi with the arrow through her chest,expecting the death.Lexi as a child,searching for someone to love her.Every bad word,everytime Lena yelled at her,all strict look she gave her,clearly in Lenas mind,haunting her.

When Winn came back,he found Lena holding Ruby in her arms,both of them asleep.He smiled at them,and he felt happy.He was always alone back in Metropolis.Sure he loved his town and friends,but he had the feeling that he finally found a family here.

He stared at Lena ,his eyes filled with admiration.Her dark hair was messy,dirty.Her jawlines so sharp.Her lips looked soft,and even if her skin was dirty,a little bit bloody,he cant stop thining about how beautiful this woman was.He exactly remeber her eyes,green and focused.So determind.He felt home with her.How could anyone manage not to fall for her ?

He ignited a fire ,near to the girls,but not near enough that it would be dangerous.He mumbled"Guess the first watch is for Agent Schott then"and sat down next to Lena and Ruby.And again he wasnt able to stop himself from staring at her.Her hips were full and seemed so soft.She was not muscular,but strong.But the thing that catched his attention over and over again,were her lips.So soft , pink and definitly kissable.He wanted to know soo bad what she tastes like"Would she like it?Is there a possibillity she could like him back?" This thoughts ran through his mind and kept him awake till the morning.

When the sun rised,he gave up fighting against his mind.He decided to wake Lena up in the way he wanted to the whole night.He moved closer,took her chin in his hands and watched her a few seconds.He hestiated,but then he took all his courage and pressed his lips on hers.She tasted salty and sweet at the same,and he closed his eyes.He wanted more,pressed his body closer to hers,he put all of his emotions in to this kiss.The shock ,his anxiety ,his will to protect her and Ruby.

Lena opend her eyes in panic,just to find herself get kissed.She was confused and panic came over her.She pulled the person away,she was about to throw up.Her hand was faster then her brain and she gave the unknown person a slap,as hard as she could.Then she looked in his eyes,she saw he regretted what he just did.It was Winn,god Winn kissed her."Winn what the actual fuck?!"She screamed in his face "Lena-I-shit I am so sry,I dont know what came over me"He felt sorry Lena saw it in his eyes,but that was not an excuse.

She wanted to hit him right another time ,when Ruby slowly sat up,her eyes sleepy and her voice confused."Lena,why are you yelling at Winn" Lena gave Winn a deadly look."Winn did something really stupid ,but its ok he wont do it again" He looked down ashamed and nodded."Ohh are we in danger now?"Ruby looked around with her eyes wide opened."No we are not." Lena said calming,but also trying to hide the fight inside her.

She knew Winn is a good guy, maybe he would be the best partner she could ever have.He was caring,strong protective and funny and somehow she wished she could feel something for him,but she never felt anything romantic for someone her entire life.All the guys that wanted to date her were silly or childish to her.And it is the same for Winn.He maybe is a good friend,a good person,but he will never be more than that for her.She is not the person for relationships,there are more important things then that.

Winn used the chance to escape that whole awkward situation and said he wanted to go get breakfast somehow and Lena agreed.She dont want to see him for a while,it is better that way.

So when Winn decided to go,she began to comfort Ruby,she cuddled the little girl and brushed her hair carefully with her hands:"Hey Ruby,have you slept well?I hope it was not to cold for you?You are hungry for sure,right?" The girl seemed really excited:"I have slept really good Lena and i have really good news,my mum,she is not dead,and she told me to thank you for caring about me!It was really warm and comfy cuddling with you,its like you are a real teddybear,you are great"She smiled so brightly.

Lenas heart broke a little more.Of course Ruby had a dream of her mum,her brain wants to protect her from the trauma.Cruel human mind.Lena remembered how it felt when she lost her parents.She is not able to tell Ruby that her dream was not the reality, that her mum is gone forever,just as Lexi.She would lost her hope again.Lena was not able to break her heart again,so she just stayed silent and be there for the girl.One day she will realize and Lena would be there for her that day.
