"Dream!" Tommy called out as he and Tubbo arrived at the man's lair if you will. "We've come to end this!" Tubbo was hesitant, the pattern on the floor being rather interesting to him.

"Tommy, look at the floor," Tubbo murmured, Tommy doing it immediately and noticing the pattern.

Black squares next to white squares, diagonal from another corresponding square of their colour. The squares were big, they could easily fit five or six people on them if needed. Why did Dream have this pattern on the floor?

"Well, well, well," Dream's voice echoed around the room, yet he was nowhere to be seen. "If it isn't TommyInnit and his best friend Tubbo!"

"Where are you, you bastard!" Tommy shouted, both his and Tubbo's swords out as they stood back-to-back, prepared to fight the maniac if needed.

"That's a good question, Tommy. Where am I?" Dream's voice was condescending. "Am I here? Am I there? Or am I... here?" With that final sentence, Dream appeared on the opposite side of the room to them. "Hello, boys."

"Dream," Tubbo greeted the tyrant, gulping silently as he stared at that porcelain white smiley mask that seemed to taunt him, seemed to dare him to challenge him. Dream merely smirked towards the boy before looking at the younger male.

"You're gonna get punished for hat you've done!" the blonde yelled. He went to say something else but was cut off by the maniac before both him and his best friend.

"I had to lose everything to gain everything," the man commented, sitting up straighter in his chair – his throne. "Sometimes you have to leave a knight behind. They all called me insane for how I played the game. But it was worth every sacrifice."

Tommy and Tubbo tensed, watching as Dream walked to stand on the bottom step. They copied hi movements.

"Welcome to my chess board, you should not have waged war." Dream's voice sounded deranged, sounded harsh. The two heroes shared a glance, one that clearly asked each other what they had gotten themselves into. "No way to know which move I will make next."

"So what?" Tubbo shouted, seeming to anger the man. Shit.

"This is my chess board. There's no need to keep score, 'cause I've already got your king in check."

Tommy's face fell immediately as Dram revealed what he held behind his back. It was his beloved discs, Mellohi and Cat. "My discs!" the boy exclaimed, being held back by Tubbo.

"Tommy, he's in control right now! We can't do anything stupid!" the brunette lad warned, holding his best friend – his brother – back. Suddenly Tubbo was at Dream's side. What? How?! I was just... what?!

"You only need a pawn for so long, Tommy," you could practically feel the egotistical smirk in Dream's voice, cockiness rolling off him in waves. "It served its purpose and now it's time to go."

Tubbo's heart stopped.

What did that mean? Was Dream finished with him? Was he... was he about to... die?

"You hate my strategies, maybe you're scared of me," Tubbo as shaking as Dream lazily threw an arm around his shoulders. It reminded him far too much of Schlatt when the man was president and still alive. "As long as in the end I'm in control."

"You bastard, Dream!" Tommy yelled, frozen to his spot by an invisible force. The man in question merely chuckled darkly, pulling Tubbo closer to him. "Let Tubbo go!"

"Let me think. Hm... No, I don't want to." Dream turned to Tubbo, smiling softly at the frightened lad. "Tell him, Tubbo. You always said you wanted to help me, didn't you? You wouldn't want to betray me, would you? You know how that would hurt me, Tubs." Tubbo nodded, guilt overflowing his very being as Dream continued talking. "Perfect! Then tell him."

Tubbo took a deep breath before doing as he was told, being the perfect little pawn.

"Welcome to his chess board, we should not have waged war."

"T-Tubbo...?"

The guilty boy couldn't look at his best friend. A voice in his head kept taunting him; is he really your friend? Does he really care for you? You're merely a sidekick. Dream is your true friend. He wouldn't abandon you; he wouldn't leave you behind. Dream would look after and care and be kind to you.

Tubbo was starting to believe the voice.

"No way to know which move he will make next. This is his-"

"Our chess board" Dream cut Tubbo of, now standing behind him with his hands on the boy's shoulders. "There's no need to keep score, 'cause we already have your king in check." Suddenly, from the right of where Tubbo and Dream were standing, Ghostbur came in and stood next to the madman.

"All of his moves are deliberate, they are supposed to stay ignorant!" the ghost shouted towards the boy he once called brother. "They always find him winning the game. They think he's insane, but he just knows how to play the game."

"Welcome to my chess board, you should not have waged war," Dream was taunting the boy on the opposite end of the room, egging him to make a rash decision. Sure, Tubbo didn't consider him as much of a friend now but he knew Tommy. Or at least, he thinks he does. "No way to know which move I will make next. This is my chess board. There's no need to keep score, 'cause I already have your king in check."

"You won't win, Dream!" Tommy shouted, tears clearly trickling down his face. Dream chuckled, looking down at the brunette pawn below his hands.

"Oh Tommy," vivid green eyes met vivid blue. "I already have."

It all went dark for Tommy, but he could hear a voice in his head.

Welcome to my chess board...

Then it disappeared and it was silent. Tommy was unconscious.
