-----------------------------------------------Tommy sighed, watching as Ghostbur hung out with everyone. It didn't make sense. Didn't he feel guilty for what he did, for what he did to him, to their country? It didn't make sense to him. Glancing to where Sophie was, an idea formed in his head. He knew he had to talk to someone about how he's feeling, he knew that, but did he really want to? Deciding to just go talk to the nineteen-year-old, the sixteen-year-old made his way down to where Sophie was.
"Hm? Oh, hello, Tommy," Sophie greeted, smiling gently at the teen who smiled back at her awkwardly. "What's up?" Did he really want to do this? Did he really want to risk it?
Yes.
"Sophie, do you remember the offer you gave me? A few months back?" Tommy asked, fidgeting with his sleeves. Sophie nodded in response. "I'd, uh, like to take you up on that offer." Sophie's heart softened. Tommy had come to her to talk about everything that's happened. He's getting better, she thought as she led Tommy to her house where they sat on the couch, Tommy on one end and Sophie on the other.
"So, what's on your mind?" Sophie asked, smiling as her cat, Soot, jumped onto Tommy's lap to give him something to cuddle with as he spoke, giving him a second form of comfort.
"It's about Wilbur, and how he's ignoring what he's done," replied the distressed teen, trying to ignore the evident threat of tears in his eyes. Sophie sighed softly, gesturing for him to continue. "Well... When the sun rises up and the stars start to fade, I look up to him and I see the man who once told me 'Follow your heart'. No longer who he used to be."
Sophie nodded, grabbing a spare notepad and writing things down. Tommy didn't mind, he just continued talking.
"We would sing, we would dance all through the night, no care for the war tomorrow to come. No care for the world or dreams for tonight, no worry about the big fight." Tommy sighed, petting Soot and holding them closer to him. "but the night has to end and so does our lives, the shadows have chosen new kings. A betrayal of one we have trusted so much, a betrayal which closer us brings."
"You want a break?" the redhead asked after Tommy hadn't spoken for a while. The boy shook his head, looking down at the purring cat in his lap. "Alright, continue when you're ready, okay?" Again, Tommy nodded and took a deep breath, continuing on.
"We would sing, we would dance and welcome new friends! The lost ones still in our minds. Just as nights and these wars, this pain will one end a refuge together we find." Tommy took another deep breath. "may peace be upon us children of war, may peace be upon them too. Though they have damned us and wished us to die, may peace be upon their life true."
Sophie's heart broke when she saw the tears slowly trickle-down Tommy's cheeks. "C'mere, Tommy," she murmured, holding the boy close to her chest, heart breaking at the sounds of his sobs. Sophie couldn't help but want to keep the boy in her arms where he was safe, where he was protected, where he wasn't harmed.
"Can... Can I stay with... with you?" Tommy stuttered, holding onto Sophie as tight as he could. Sophie merely nodded, noticing how Tubbo and Ranboo had entered the house, looks of distress and anger on their faces.
Opening her arms, the eldest teen offered her home to the newest additions to her little family. Tears gathering in their eyes, the distraught duo latched onto each other and Sophie and Tommy.
"You're safe now," she whispered gently, holding them close. As she helped them to calm down from their emotional distraught, she remembered a tune her mother had sung to her once, when she was a child.
Taking a deep breath, Sophie started to hum the tune softly. "I remember tears streaming down your face when I said I'll never let you go," she sang softly, "When all those shadows almost killed your light. I remember you said 'Don't leave me here alone', but all that's dead and gone and passed tonight." She noticed the tired looks on the boys' faces. "Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound."
Looking down at the three teenagers in her arms, Sophie immediately noticed the peaceful looks of slumber that rested upon their faces. I'm glad they're getting some rest, she thought as she turned off the lamp on the end table next to her and swiftly fell asleep, the sounds of her boys' even breathing calming her.
