Confrontation

Aang POV

"What was that for?!" I asked confused

Katara ignored the question and asked one of her own

"Why did you kiss her?" She asked bitterly.

"Because the bottle landed on her" I replied.

Katara took some time to process her thoughts.

"Do you have feelings for her?" She asked

"What?! No, no, no. We're just friends. I've known Azula since 5th grade. She just moved back here from the fire nation." I answered

Katara seemed relieved at my answer.

"Why would that matter though?" I asked

Katara was stumped. She didn't have an answer.
"I- well...um..." was all she could say.

But I continued to talk

"Why would it matter that I kissed a girl 2 months after we broke up? Am I not allowed to move on?" I lied. I hadn't moved on.

"From what I could tell, you had moved on while we were still together." I continued.

Katara didn't know how to respond.

"You hurt me Katara. I felt genuine pain when I saw you kiss Haru." I said

"I never wanted to hurt you Aang. I made a mistake, I don't remember much from that night" she said

"Well I remember all of it." I replied bitterly

She winced when I said this.

"I lost almost all motivation to do anything after that party. I sat in my bed for days, just thinking about what I did wrong. But after a while, the pain started to go away." I lied again. The pain was still there. But she didn't need to know that.

I continued to speak, "Katara, I love you. All I wanted to do was make you happy. And even though I was mad at you, I was more mad at myself that I couldn't make you happy."

Katara stood there trying to take in all of what I said. Eventually she spoke.

"Wait...

Did you say you love me still?"
