Chapter 33.
Confide in a friend."Canu--Your highness. I'm fine don't worry.." Y/n brushed off his hand as she tied her hair up into a ponytail, she was obviously struggling to gather her hair as she was rushing.
"Here let me help you."
Y/n sighed before she handed him the ribbon, he moved so he was standing behind her and gently detangled her hair with his fingers.
"Y/n take a breath.. Relax your shoulders." Canute advised noticing how tense she was, it seemed Y/n didn't even realize as she relaxed her muscles while drawing a deep breath.
Closing her eyes she melted into the feeling of Canute's fingers massaging her scalp as he pulled her hair back gently.
3 days have past since Y/n exploded on Thorfinn, and since she's never spoken to him-- nor did she even glance in his direction. It wasn't hard to avoid him, since now especially they barely had any time to be around each other.
"So.. Are you going to tell me now what happened between you and Thorfinn..?"
Y/n groaned as the prince's question soured her mood after she was finally calming.
"Your high--"
"Canute." He corrected.
"Canute," Y/n repeated in a slightly mocking tone showing her annoyance, "what is there to explain? You heard what you heard."
Canute could tell today Y/n wasn't in the mood to confide or simply talk to him, but this was his free time-- so he wanted to spend it with her.
"If some of it had to do with those women. I think you should know that nothing happened.." Canute tried to reassure her, but Y/n only rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms.
"Yeah. Whatever you say." She clicked her tongue in vexation when he reminded her of those two noble women.
The prince furrowed his brows at her attitude, grabbing a fistful of her hair he yanked her head back but slightly to the side so she was looking up at him-- asserting his dominance.
"I don't like this attitude." Canute said putting his foot down, Y/n's facial expression turned from blank into a scowl as she glared up at the prince.
"Who do you think you are grabbing my hair like that? You can leave," She said, her hand making it's way to his wrist that had a secure hold on her hair.
Canute lowered his head slightly, "I came to talk.." He said a bit softer but still stern, "I came to help you,"
"I don't need your help--" Her grip on his wrist became tighter.
"For the past 3 days you've been nothing but tense, I feel like if you have someone to vent to, it'll help you calm down." The prince made a point, "See, like look at you now.. You're never this difficult."
