Final Chapter
MeaningThat night at dinner a clean-shaven and short haired Thorfinn retold the events of his life over the years leading to the present moment, all with Y/n seated right by his side. The retelling of the past sixteen years of his life left everyone speechless, and they encouraged Thorfinn's dream to build a land of peace in Vinland.
Presently, everyone had gone to sleep with the exception of Thorfinn. He found himself laying on his side with his arm draped around Y/n securely who was sound asleep. But the radiation of her body heat and soft snores weren't enough to cure Thorfinn's restlessness tonight.
"Y/n," He whispered only loudly enough for her to hear, rocking her body gently. Propping himself up on one arm to partly hover over her, he shook her a bit rougher. "Wake up." He urged in a hushed tone earning a groan of disapproval from the woman underneath him.
It was evident his efforts to awaken her were fruitful, as an unconscious Y/n wouldn't have curtly moved her shoulder out of his grip while screwing up her face.
An attractive chuckle pushed past his lips, not even bothering to suppress the bubbly emotions Y/n was able to stir up in him even through the smallest actions.
Leaning down towards her face he pressed numerous kisses along her neck leading up to her cheek. The result worked in his favour as he was finally able to get her eyes to flutter open, her e/c eyes squinted in confusion.
"Why can't you just sleep like a normal person." She murmured, Her speech was heavily slurred and barely comprehensible. Miraculously so, Thorfinn was perfectly capable of deciphering her gibberish. "Go back to sleep..." Turning on her side she smacked her lips in attempt to reenter her dreams. To her dismay, Thorfinn had other plans in store for her.
"I can't sleep," He answered truthfully, unlike the previous night where he was fighting against falling asleep tonight was the complete opposite.
"Sucks to be you." Her plain response earned another soft laugh from Thorfinn. "sshhh!" She hushed the male who noticed how her brows furrowed in out of annoyance.
Exhaling sharply from his nose, Thorfinn throwing in the towel with the difficult woman who now clearly loved her sleep. Freeing the lower half of his body from the thick fur blanket, he got of out where he laid with Y/n to stand up to his feet.
Feeling the loss of warmth beside her Y/n's eyes shot open as she turned to look over at Thorfinn curiously. She watched as he walked over to where his jacket was, putting his arms the sleeves of the thick layer before closing it up.
Fighting her fatigue she forced herself to sit up, yawning as she stretched her arm above her head.
"What are you doing?" She mumbled to Thorfinn, her voice just barely loud enough to reach him over the sound of snoring individuals,
"Going for a walk." He responded, ensuring to keep his voice down to avoid waking anyone.
Y/n threw her head back and sighed, after rubbing her eyes she then placed her palm to the ground to help herself up to her own feet. Taking small steps to where her jacket laid, as she reached out for it she was taken aback when another hand beat her to it.
"Hmm?" She questioned the blonde man, looking up at him with a small frown on her features. He combatted her frown with a small smile, as he gestured for her to turn around.
"Let me help you," Thorfinn insisted, Y/n not arguing as she'd never turn down his help. Complying without a word she turned her back to him and raised her arm. Just after Thorfinn managed to get her arm through the sleeve he placed a hand on her shoulder to gently turn her around.
