They didn't film for the next couple of days, a break which Trixie found to be incredibly needed. But even without Katya in the room, the Barbie-doll couldn't rid herself of the woman's touch. Her skin was haunted by the imprints of the blue-eyed girl's hands. Her mind like a broken record, Katya's words playing on repeat in her head.
"I remember everything about you."
What did that mean?
Or did it not mean anything at all?
Trixie had always seen Katya as someone who used people and threw them away. She'd always heard stories of how the blue-eyed woman jumped from bed to bed, seen first-hand how she charmed girls and threw them away. Everyone who'd been in the business for a while loved her and loved whenever they could be the center of her attention, but they knew better than to sincerely fall for the woman.
Katya had girls waiting for her in every city, ready to run into her arms as soon as she snapped her fingers. Free of shame they'd drop everything for even a minute of the blue-eyed girl's attention, and Katya was the type who'd bask in it. It was something Trixie had so intensely hated her for, and hated to watch whenever they'd been at the same events. The girl made empty promises and left, at least according to the stories Trixie had heard. As soon as things got serious, Katya was gone.
And all of that scared Trixie now.
Because Trixie was beginning to really like the person Katya was behind all the cockiness and sarcasm.
The person who got nervous and stumbled over a simple compliment.
The person who'd carry Trixie away and kiss her forehead.
The person who'd stop to ask if everything was okay.
That person was someone Trixie could see herself falling in love with.
She felt a tear roll down her cheek, cursing her heart for getting attached. Katya would be gone soon enough, they were almost done filming after all. But here Trixie was, falling head over heels for someone who'd never feel the same.
But what if she could? - A voice in Trixie's head asked.
It was a dangerous question.
A question that got people burnt.
A question Trixie was sure countless of Katya's conquests had asked themselves before. But Trixie couldn't help but consider it after everything that had happened during the last couple of days. She was grasping at straws, but she couldn't help herself. She was as foolish as the newcomers who innocently fell in love with Katya's flattery with no hope of freeing themselves from getting attached.
She should throw it all away, forget Katya's words and focus on finishing up their work together. But there was no hope, her heart was clenching painfully at what awaited her once they wrapped up. The thought of Katya in someone else's arms, the thought of Katya's attention being directed towards someone else, the thought of Katya saying the same words to another girl, all of it hurt too much.
Trixie had worked so hard to protect herself, carefully built up a wall of anger and irony, but the blue-eyed girl had still managed to weasel her way into Trixie's foolish heart. And all the Barbie knew now was that she couldn't let anyone know, especially not Katya. She couldn't take the humiliation of being turned away. Couldn't stand the thought of Katya trying to let her down easy just to jump into bed with some random girl the next minute.
And after all it wasn't like she actually needed Katya.
No, she was fine on her own.
She'd always managed on her own.
It was just a silly infatuation, and it would pass in time. It would hurt for a while, sure, but it would pass.
She'd be fine.
Yeah, completely fine.
