The night sky had replaced the daylight, a deep royal blue with a silvery moon appearing in place of the cloudy baby blue sky from before. They were once again in Katya's apartment as Trixie didn't want to be alone for the night.
"It's gonna be okay tomorrow, right? Everything will work out?" Trixie asked, feeling more uncertain and nervous than she ever had before.
"It will, by this time tomorrow you'll be free from that sleezy asshole. I'll make sure of it." Katya said, setting down a warm cup of lemon tea in front of Trixie and some macaroons, which she had mostly bought because the shades of pastels reminded her of the doll's aesthetic.
"I really hope so." Trixie said, taking a sip of her tea before folding her legs under herself on the couch and leaning her head on Katya's shoulder.
There was a sense of serenity in the air, a fragile silence which still brought comfort. Katya's arm wrapped around the doll, pulling her closer, and they both sat there enjoying the safety of eachother's presence. Trixie wanted it to last forever, stay in the safety of Katya's warmth, and she could only hope that this wouldn't be the quiet before the storm.
As they sat there in silence, a question entered Katya's mind;
What were they?
They loved eachother, but did that mean that they were exclusive? Katya didn't know how to be, even tho Trixie had her undivided attention, even tho she wanted nothing more than to stay by Trixie's side, stable relationships wasn't something she knew well.
And what if she had been right about love all along?
Was it really worth it?
Trying to win at a loosing game?
With Trixie? Yes.
Katya had sworn to turn the page and let go of the past, and she still wanted that. She wanted all the little things, the silent comfort that came from sharing your daily life with someone, the casual routine of domesticity. She wanted them to find something to watch just to watch their phones for half the time, or get distracted by kisses that would eventually lead to something more. Wanted to eat out and share meals like the main couple of a romantic comedy. Call eachother without anything special to say, knowing it wouldn't matter because she adored Trixie enough to just have her on speaker as she went about her day. This uncharted road was opening up in front of her, and all she had to do was take the first step. Well... second step, Katya thought, as she had technically taken the first by admitting to Trixie that she loved her.
"Trixie, wh-what are we?" Katya said nervously, hating whenever she had to take her mask of confidence off.
"Well, I love you, and you love me..." Trixie started.
"Yes?"
"So maybe girlfriends would be fitting?" The brown-eyed girl suggested, hoping Katya's commitment issues wouldn't stop them from taking the next step together.
"Girlfriends." Katya said, almost tasting the word in her mouth before adding; "I like that. My girlfriend Trixie. Meet my girlfriend Trixie. Yeah, I really like the sound of that."
"You're such a weirdo."
"Yeah, but I'm your weirdo. You can't get out of it now." Katya replied with a broad smile, her heart feeling light and warm.
"Oh my god, weirdness is gonna follow me wherever I go. I'm doomed." Trixie joked dramatically.
"You little cunt!" Katya said with a laugh, starting to tickle the doll.
It turned out, to Katya's great amusement, that Trixie was extremely ticklish. Soon they were having a full on tickle war, Trixie trying to fling throw pillows at Katya to make her stop, laughter filling the entire room.
"Do you concede?" Trixie said dramatically when she managed to straddle Katya on the floor. She was holding Katya's arms down to prevent the woman from tickling her again.
"I concede." Katya said with a laugh.
"Good." The doll said, letting go of the other woman's arms.
"Hey Trixie?"
"What?"
In a swift move, Katya pulled Trixie down so that they were almost chest to chest.
"I love you." Katya said placing a sweet kiss on Trixie's lips.
"I love you too." Trixie said before jokingly adding; "But you're still a weirdo."
"And you're still a prissy princess."
"I'll gladly take princess over weirdo." The brown-eyed girl responded.
"Fine." Katya said just as she had months before when they first hooked up in the bathroom, just that this time there was not even a hint of anger.
"Good." Trixie replied just as she had then, but this time with a giggle and a smile.
"Good." The blue-eyed girl finally said before kissing her girlfriend once again.
