The next day, the elves organised a tribute to Gandalf in the evening.

Elenwë, who had joined the rest of the community, heard the heavenly and melodious voices of the elves of the Lorién.

At the beginning, she just listened and joined in with the singing.

Elenwë's voice was clear and beautiful, full of sadness and regret.

Her companions were captivated by the harmony of her farewell song.

Soon, after a few seconds, Legolas too began to sing.

His voice was deeper and more powerful than Elenwë's, but it was also soft and harmonious.

The companions had tears in their eyes and although none of them, apart from Aragorn, understood the exact words, they all felt the lament of the elves deep inside them.

In Olórin i yáresse

Olórin, which was once a...

Mentaner i Númeherui

Sent by the Lords of the West

Tírien i Rómenóri

To keep the lands of the East

Maiaron i Oiosaila

The wisest of all Maiar

Manan elye etevanne

What led you to leave

Nórie i melanelye ?

What do you like?

Mithrandir, Mithrandir, A Randir Vithren

Mithrandir, Mithrandir Oh Grey Pilgrim

Ú-reniathach i amar galen

Never again will you tread the green fields of this land

I reniad lín ne môr, nuithannen

Your journey ended in darkness

In gwidh ristennin, i fae narchannen

Broken ties, broken spirit

I lach Anor ed ardhon gwannen

The Flame of Anor has left this World

Calad veleg, ethuiannen.

A great light, has disappeared.

-Couldn't you translate this song for us, Elenwë? Asked Sam

-Master Gamegie, I'm afraid I'm not good enough with words and to do that would require too much effort on my part. Elenwë replied.

-For me, Mithrandir's departure is even more a subject for tears than for songs. Added Legolas, who was standing next to Gimli.

They nodded their heads, as a sign of understanding.

Earlier in the day, Lady Galadriel had asked each of the members of the Community to come and see her.

Boromir had since been, as it were, terrified, Gimli completely admiring, Aragorn appeased and Frodo... difficult to say...

The Lady had asked him and Sam to look in the mirror.

The latter had shown an air of shock when he saw people returning to the lands of his Elder but had finally decided to stay with Frodo instead of selfishly going back to the Shire.

As for Frodo...

Flasback

-I will look, says Frodo.
