However, here's the next part, It's a very calm one, but small steps also lead to the goal xD

James was a bit worried about Regulus after he had heard that nobody saw him in two days, so he had checked the marauder's map to find out where he was. The result wasn't surprising and he wondered why he didn't come to that idea on his own. So at the second day he went upstairs to wait at the corridor next to the Room of Requirements, because he really needed to talk to him.
And Fortuna was on his side, because Regulus really decided to leave the room today. And he was really glad about it.
That Regulus didn't run off immediately was also a good point, so they came to really talk. He understood his worries very well, honestly, he had the same, but he didn't see why that should stop anyone.
And eventually he reached to point to admit that Regulus wasn't the only one that caught feelings. It was very hard to say out loud he found. Especially to the person that was involved. Reggie seemed to be surprised as well and stared at him like he was an alien. Which amused him a little bit. Because he felt the same if he was honest.
"It's not?", Regulus asked confused, lowering his arms with all the things in it and staring at him.
James slowly shook his head: "No. It took me a while to understand it, but...It's definitely not one sided. I like you way more than platonically and I never expected it to happen, but it did."
The Slytherin made big eyes and opened his mouth, yet no sound left his lips and he closed them again, but his face turned brightly red.
"Seems like I was subtle about it huh", the Potter said with a nervous laugh and ran his fingers through his curls. Oh man. He didn't know why he started becoming more nervous with every passing second the younger one was just standing in silence.
"But...Lily", the Black finally brought out in a confused voice and looking down the stairs like he would expect the redhead to show up and hex him.
Prongs had to smile: "Lils knows about it. And she accepts it. To be honest she was the one to encourage me to talk to you." Speaking that out felt weird too, like something completely unbelievable and honestly, it was to a point. He still couldn't believe Lily's endless understanding and will to find a solution that worked for all of them.
"She...what? Potter, you're confusing me more with everything you say", Reg pointed out, sounding a bit frustrated as he tried to wrap his head around it. And that amused James even more.
"Yes. And don't worry; I'm as confused as you are about it. But she said I should talk to you and find out what you want and if we are in the same boat, we all will sit together and work something out. That was two days ago and I actually wanted to talk to you immediately, but since you've been hiding that was a bit difficult to do", the headboy explained further with a smirk on his lips. Honestly, he didn't understand how Remus and Sirius had been able to do this game of hiding their feelings from each other for years. He would implode if he did that once he understood what was going on. On the other hand he didn't know if it would be differently if Sirius and Remus wouldn't be who they were. The first openly gay couple in Hogwarts, they surely had some impact on his own view and bravery when it came to that point.
"Your girlfriend is seriously twisted", the Slytherin shook his head still in confusion and chewed on his lower lip, his eyes locked on the wall across him. James could literally see his mind working. This was really a situation he never saw himself ending up in, but now it was there and he was absolutely up to take it as it was.
"Maybe you want to think about it for some time before making a decision. Get some sleep over it, sort your thoughts and if you know what you want, you know where to find me", James offered patiently and stepped closer to Regulus, "nothing runs away and you're not expected to make a decision here and now. It's an overwhelming situation and confusing too, I know that." He could sing a whole song of that too, but he expected Regulus to be more overwhelmed of it than he was. But maybe he was wrong, who knew that? He couldn't look into people's minds. That would be really creepy, it was good that it was quite impossible. The imagination that everyone could read minds was scary, so he tried to shake it off as fast as it came.
"Yeah...yes, I mean...that's what I should definitely do, I guess?", Reg agreed with a voice a bit higher than usual and finally taking his eyes off the wall and looking at James, "Have a good day...see you." He turned around and went down the stairs a bit too fast, stumbling shortly, but catching himself and shooting an embarrassed look over his shoulder to check if James had seen that and disappeared around the next corner.
James stared at the spot for a moment, a big rock of relief falling from his shoulders. Of course there was nothing decided yet, but just to have calmed the waves between them was something he was very glad about. And the Slytherin didn't seem completely reluctant about the suggestion of how to deal with the situation.

James had told Lily the current outcome of the conversation right off and recognised that he started to feel more comfortable with that all the more often he talked to her. And it was the same for Lily. Even though she made the suggestion in the first place, she admitted that it felt weird for her, but now that they talked about it more it became more natural and they came to the point of agreement that if it happened that Lily crushed on someone else, that wouldn't be a problem either as long as they both stayed honest with each other.
When Prongs went to bed this night, his heart felt lighter and a peaceful feeling was growing inside of him. The thing that made him worry tho...was Sirius. His best friend surely wouldn't react very supportive or happy if he found out what was going on. In that case it didn't matter that it was James who wanted to date his younger brother. Small correction. It mattered more, because it was James. But he guessed he could wait to overthink that until it really was something to think about. At this point Regulus still could say No and that even was realistic, right? He was young and just learning to go his own way, being in a relationship that was so unconventional on many levels probably wasn't something he would want.

Lily left the Great Hall as soon as she finished her breakfast to meet with Marlene and Dorcas, so James once again was left alone on the table. Sirius and Remus were still in bed as their first lesson was a free one and he had no idea where Peter was around again. He hadn't really seen much of him outside of the lessons recently and just assumed he was spending his time with his new girlfriend and he was really happy for him that his friend found someone, as he deserved the best.
And he enjoyed the calmness too. Their graduation year over all became quieter than all the years before – fewer pranks, less trouble and a little bit more separateness between the four boys. The seriousness of the situation outside of the Hogwarts grounds added to that too, but it generally also was the curse of growing up.
He finished his tea at the same moment Regulus entered the hall, looking a bit better than yesterday. He seemed to have gotten some rest and looked like his collected self, wearing his uniform strictly proper, and his dark hair under control again. The only thing that was out of place in his well-known attitude was the nervous look on his face as he came closer to the Gryffindor table. Obviously giving his best to ignore his housemates that were following his moves with their looks, he sat down across the table and stayed quiet, looking at James.
For a moment James just stared back confused: "Morning, little Black. You alright? Did someone break your wand?"
Reggie shook his head: "No...not that I would have seen that. But I thought about what you said and... I want..." He stopped himself, slightly turning red and rubbing his neck. That behaviour actually already said enough, but James still tried not to be too hopeful already. Maybe he misread signs, he didn't notice that Regulus was interested into him either, right? Not that he was just reading into something. So he waited for the Slytherin to continue as patient as he could.
"We should talk with Lily", Regulus finally came around to finish his sentence and stared at the table. A feeling of euphoria rushed through James' veins and he had to hold himself back to not jump up and run through the castle like the biggest idiot. So he just grinned like the biggest idiot: "That's awesome. I'm...wow. Then...after dinner, right? We meet uhm...we meet in the corridor for the Room of Requirements. I think that's the safest option. You don't have Quidditch training this evening, do you?"
Reggie shook his head with a shy smile: "No. After dinner is good. But I have to go now. Have a good day, Potter." His grin became a bit more confident, as he stood up and wandered out of the hall.
James waited a moment, before jumping up and rushing out of the hall too, in need to find Lily or Remus, he didn't care who, but he needed to tell someone.
