Dream sat on top of the big rock overlooking L'manfield, or what would soon be their new village. Technoblade and some of the others were clearing out spaces for new houses and Dream admired the way Techno helped instead of just sat around and watched. Like I'm doing. Dream realized with a chuckle.
He was still labeled as 'unstable and dangerous' after he killed Phil but to be honest, he didn't really have a choice. The man was about to kill him so it was either Phil or Dream, and obviously, Dream wasn't going to let himself die that easily. Being labeled unstable gave him the option of being lazy and he gladly took it. He glanced below him, there was still a faint bloodstain on the grass where Technoblade had died and Dream had to find his friend amongst the others to make sure he really was still alive. He looked back down and saw a little cross signifying Wilbur's grave.
"Oh Will," Dream slid down the rock and kneeled down on the spot they had buried Wilbur. "You died a hero, I hope you know that." He whispered. Wilbur had died trying to kill Schlatt and had fallen, breaking his neck and slowly stealing his ability to breathe. Dream had been there to witness his dying breath and he remembered his last words clearly.
"I've..." He coughed. "I've officially won the prize for most deaths." He choked out.
"I'm sorry Will." Dream muttered. He could see that Wilbur's neck was broken and he was slowly dying. "You tried."
"I tried." He agreed. "I don't want to be brought back." He added.
"Why?" Dream said. Wilbur smiled, he didn't seem to be in any pain and Dream knew he was already practically dead.
"I don't deserve it," he said. "Tell Tommy and Tubbo that they were the best friends a guy like me could have asked for." He said, closing his eyes. Dream nodded.
Dream patted the earth that covered Wilbur's body and stood back up, nodding slightly to the grave before climbing up the rock. Wilbur had died saving his life. He had distracted Schlatt enough that he hadn't killed Dream. Dream didn't know what would have happened without that little moment of distraction and he thanked Wilbur silently for possibly saving his life.
"Hey Dream," Dream looked up as Tommy hurried towards him, his eyes wide.
"Is something wrong?" Dream asked. Tommy was soaked and Dream wondered if someone had attempted to drown him or something.
"Uh... no..." Tommy scratched the back of his head. "I-" He paused. "I was just gonna say that you -er- should have been at the stream. It was... um... great." he hurried away quickly. If he was going to tell me something he must have lost his nerve. Dream shrugged and climbed back up the rock, taking a seat on the edge and continuing to watch the others cut out spaces for the new houses.
"Hey Dream! Why don't you get your lazy butt off that rock and help us!" Dream glanced down and saw Technoblade staring up at him with a grin.
"I'm still unstable and dangerous," Dream protested. "I can't be trusted-"
"Oh yeah right, get down here." Techno scoffed. Dream muttered under his breath and slid back down the rock, landing with a thud beside Techno. "That's a good boy, now let's go."
"Why do you treat me like a dog?" Dream snorted.
"I don't treat you like a dog," Techno chuckled. "But, do you want a treat?" He said jokingly, handing Dream an iron shovel.
"Cut it out," Dream said.
"Good boy, now go over there and start getting me some dirt," Techno chuckled.
"I will end you," Dream growled.
"I'd like to see you try," Dream let out a huff at Techno's words and as Techno turned around Dream smacked him in the head with his shovel. Techno's crown fell into the dirt and Dream grabbed it, putting it on his own head.
"You want to see me try?" Dream said with a grin as Techno turned around.
"Why not," Techno shrugged, shaking out his head out. The crown vanished from Dream's head in a mere moment and Dream saw Techno was wearing it once again as he turned. He smacked Techno in the chest with his shovel once again and Techno fell backward with a huff, landing on the ground and sending a spray of dirt into the air.
"I win." Dream lowered the shovel and was about to say more when he felt the shovel yanked from his grasp. "I-" he started as he saw Techno pointing it at Dream, grinning.
"You don't win until your enemy gives up," Techno snickered. "Nice try, give up?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize we were enemies." He rolled his eyes, half expecting Techno to lower the shovel but he didn't.
"Give up, I said," Techno said. Man, he's serious about this. Dream thought, slightly amused as he held his hands up.
"Fine, I give up, whatever makes you happy." Dream rolled his eyes again.
"Now, be a good doggie and dig me some dirt," Techno said.
"I am not your doggie!" Dream cried.
"Fine," Techno chuckled. "Would you rather be a kitty?"
"I will end you for real." Dream growled.
"I'd like to see you try," Techno said. "We could do this all day, Dream." Techno snickered.
"Fine," Dream said, an idea coming to mind. "You're a better fighter, good for you, but you know what I am good at? Better than you?"
"What," Techno said. Dream dove under the shovel and bolted away, dodging around Fundy and Ranboo and darting towards the makeshift camp. "Dream! Hey! You little-" Technoblade's voice grew too quiet for Dream to hear and he grinned, skidding to a halt behind one of the houses and taking a deep breath. Running. Dream thought with amusement. I'm better at running.
The end. Of the chapter that is. :)
