Dream let out a wheeze of pain as he tried to haul himself towards the iron door that separated him from freedom. His back was now most definitely infected and he was both dehydrated and starving. He hadn't eaten since the day before his exile it now had been more than a weak. He let out a cry of pain and gave up, falling to the floor with a breath of frustration.
"Mercy..." He hissed, wondering if maybe Squeesh was watching his struggles. He'd been trying to make his way towards the door for some time now but he just couldn't make it more than a few inches. "Please." He said a bit louder, forcing himself to look around a bit. The same darkness that had been there stared back at him with its cold black stare and he shivered. The obsidian was so cold and it reminded him all too much of his prison cell back home.
This is what drove me insane. He thought. I can't let that happen again. He grunted, forcing one of his arms forwards and trying desperately to drag himself forwards with no such luck. He gritted his teeth, wishing for just one single drop of water to quench his thirst but to his disappointment, Squeesh didn't appear.
"Squeesh, just kill me." He begged. "Please." He forced himself to speak louder although each word stung because of his lack of water. "Please." He said again. This time he managed to inch forwards a bit and he wheezed a painful laugh. Yes! Finally some progress! He thought, trying again. He moved slightly once more until his hand smacked into what felt like a wall. He knew he'd never be able to stand up correctly, not with this pain, but he felt around for at least the door so he'd be able to speak a bit closer to where he suspected Squeesh would be.
"Let me out!" He growled, coughing and wincing as his throat stung again. "Let," He growled. "Me," He winced again. "Out!" The last of his strength was gone and he slumped back to the ground waiting desperately for Squeesh to appear. After what seemed like ages he heard footsteps, it sounded like a lot of them. Did she succeed in taking over our kingdom? Is she bringing Tommy here to watch me die? He realized, forcing his eyes to stay open.
"Oh Dream," He heard someone gasp. It didn't sound like Tommy or Squeesh and Dream was confused. "Are you alright?"
"Do I..." He hissed. "Look alright?" He didn't care who this person was, all he wanted was to leave this wretched place for good and even if this strange man was going to kill him he would have been relieved.
"Alright, get up," He felt someone lift him to his feet and he didn't protest as they had dragged half led him down a dark hallway. "Tommy and Squeesh are waiting for you." So I am going to die. Dream thought. This must be one of Squeesh's friends. He realized. He still didn't make any move to escape the grasp of whoever was holding onto his wrist and he didn't mind the thought of dying. Especially not now.
"Dream!" Dream glanced to his left and Saw Tommy standing beside Squeesh while whoever was leading him away helped him into a chair. "Are you alright?"
"I failed," He muttered, resting his head on the back of the chair. "Technoblade will never know I'm innocent now," he hissed, closing his eyes. "Just kill me."
"Dream, I'm so sorry I doubted you," Dream realized after a moment that he recognized the other man's voice. "I know you're innocent." Technoblade! Dream thought, feeling both relieved and a little frightened. He squinted but he couldn't manage more than that. He was very confused as to what was going on right now but he didn't really care.
"Can I have some water?" He hissed instead. Tommy let out a light laugh and nodded, getting to his feet.
"Sorry, by the way." Dream heard Squeesh say. "I didn't know what I was doing."
"Did we win the war?" he asked Tcehnoblade.
"The war hasn't begun yet," He said. "We need to get back home quickly before it does though." He added worriedly. "Although, how much harm can four kids really do?" He snorted. "Well, three now."
"There's more than three," Squeesh muttered. "I'm just part of one squad, there's an entire army of kids like me, all around the age of thirteen to eighteen." She muttered.
"What?" Techno growled.
"There are ten more people, give or take a few," Squeesh said. "And if you win, they'll surrender."
"So we can just add them to our kingdom?" Techno said, confused.
"I'm afraid not," Squeesh muttered. "These kids were born and raised into hating L'manburg and its descendants, once we learned you were the new king we set our sights on killing you first and then the others. You can't trust them when they surrender, maybe Fishy and Fox will be like me and see who are really the good guys but when they surrender, you'll have to kill them all."
"I can't just massacre a bunch of kids," Techno snorted.
"I'm afraid you'll have to," Squeesh said.
"No, I mean I physically can't do that," Techno muttered, narrowing his eyes. "I won't let myself."
"It's amazing what you can do when you don't have a choice," Squeesh's words silenced Technoblade and Dream shivered. Tommy came back and set a bottle of water on the table.
"Thanks," Dream hissed, taking it and downing the entire thing in a few gulps.
"Eat this too," Tommy said, handing Dream what looked like a little bowl of carrots.
"Even almost dead I'm not a child, Tommy." Dream snorted, eyeing the carrots. "This is like how you would prepare something for a three-year-old."
"I know," Tommy muttered, grinning. "Just eat the carrots, you're starved." Tommy rolled his eyes.
"I'm not eating the carrots, Tommy." Dream said. "Get me something else."
"Uh, no," Tommy said. "Eat your carrots and you can have dessert after."
"I'm not your child," Dream said.
"Dream just eat the carrots." Tommy insisted, shoving the bowl towards him.
"No, they're for children." Dream said.
"Dream, eat," Techno said with a chuckle. "Even almost dead, you two are the most annoying pair ever. Dream, you're an adult, start acting like it."
"Adults don't eat tiny carrots in a bowl!" Dream said, coughing a few times as his throat began to hurt.
"Eat the freaking carrots, Dream," Tommy said.
"No!" Dream said. "Can't I eat something else? Like... I dunno, chicken or something?" he suggested.
"Man, is this how parenting is?" Squeesh muttered.
"Be quiet, you're a murderer." Dream said.
"Then I suppose you should be quiet too." Squeesh shot. "Shut up and eat your carrots."
"I'm not eating the carrots," Dream scooted his chair away from the bowl.
"Fine, gremlin child." Techno rolled his eyes and stood up. "I'll get you something else, but you have to eat it."
"I'm a gremlin man." Dream shot. "Tommy's the gremlin child."
"If you would have eaten the carrots like a normal person this would not be happening!" Tommy snapped.
"Well I won the fight, didn't I?" Dream said smugly, crossing his arms and glaring at Tommy.
"You may have won the battle, but I will win the war," Dream rolled his eyes.
"My God, Tommy." He snorted. "You're such a dork."
"Here," Dream looked up as Technoblade sighed and slid him a bowl of mashed potatoes. "If you don't eat the potatoes I will literally shove them down your throat." Techno threatened. Dream muttered something under his breath before taking the bowl and starting to eat. At least I'm free, even if I have to spend the rest of my days with these two weirdoes.
Dream, just eat the carrots and no one gets hurt. Ok, I thought that was funny, I hope you did too. Side note; my grandma just made me some mac'n'cheese and I was eating it while writing this chapter and it was super good. It was around the part where Squeesh said 'Shut up and eat your carrots' that I realized I had eaten it all and now I'm sad because I want more but there's no more. Welp... :P
