"Tubbo," Tommy said, not meeting his friend's gaze. He stared at the sunrise instead, watching the golden rays fill the land. His land.
"Yes Tommy?" Tubbo asked. It was the day after he had spent most of the day with the new kids, and Tubbo of course, and he couldn't shake a feeling. A feeling he was afraid he knew.
"Tubbo, I want you to listen to me carefully, and I want you to keep a secret for me." He sighed. "This secret is a big secret."
"A bigger secret than when you were hiding Dream in your attic?" Tubbo scoffed.
"To be fair it was his attic." Tommy snorted. "And yes..." He took a deep breath, clenching his eyes shut. "Tubbo, I think I'm in love." Tubbo gasped from beside him and gripped one of Tommy's shoulders tightly.
"Tommy!" He said excitedly. "Who?"
"Squeesh." Tommy couldn't meet his friend's gaze. He felt so nervous and he could tell his friend was smiling from ear to ear. "What do I do Tubbo? I like a woman!" He hissed.
"I don't know!" Tubbo hissed back. "You should ask... nevermind, Wilbur's dead." Tubbo sighed.
"Tubbo what do I do!" Tommy said again, this time he turned and stared at Tubbo who stared back, looking far too happy. "Will you stop smiling? You're making me embarrassed."
"Oh yeah, sorry." Tubbo forced a frown which just made Tommy laugh and he looked away, burying his head in his hands. "I'm sorry! I'm just a happy person at heart." Tubbo chuckled.
"I don't know what to do, Tubbo. I need help. How do I deal with a woman?" He hissed.
"I have an idea," Tubbo said, his grin widening which Tommy thought shouldn't be possible. "Let's go ask a woman."
"I am not talking to Squeesh about-" Tommy started, outraged that Tubbo would think that was a good idea.
"Not Squeesh," Tubbo said. "Let's go find Niki."
"Oh come on Tubbo, there has to be another way-" Tommy started. Tubbo grabbed his wrist and dragged him off the rock in the middle of L'manfield. The sun was rising higher now and each blade of grass below Tommy's feet shone with a golden hue. He tried to dig his feet into the grass a few times but Tubbo was just too strong and too determined.
"Niki! Niki!" Tommy leaned against Niki's dirt hut, as nervous as he'd ever felt in his life. Niki opened the door after a moment, looking slightly annoyed.
"What do you two want?" She sighed. Tubbo glanced at Tommy, looking as if he was about to explode with joy.
"Tommy likes one of the new girls," Tubbo said quickly, practically jumping up and down with excitement. "And he doesn't know how to treat a woman, we need your help." Tommy felt his cheeks redden as Niki turned to look at him, he could tell she was now smiling as well.
"Come inside," Niki ordered, practically dragging Tommy and Tubbo into her hut. She sat Tommy down across from her on a table and Tubbo sat down beside him. "Which one?" She whispered.
"None of your-" Tommy started.
"Squeesh, the girl with the white clothes." Tubbo interrupted. Tommy let his head slam onto the table and he clenched his eyes shut, praying maybe this was a dream.
"Oh Tommy!" Niki squealed.
"Be quiet! The whole kingdom will hear you!" Tommy snapped, jerking his head upwards to glare at Niki. "Will you two just stop smiling for one moment?" He sighed, glancing from Niki to Tubbo in annoyance.
"I'm just so happy for you," Niki sighed. Tubbo nodded and Tommy forced himself not to slap his friend in his cheery little face.
"Alright alright, just tell me what to do, woman, and I'll never speak to you again," Tommy hissed, an edge to his voice as he glared at Niki.
"Well, there's a lot to work on, Tommy. For starters, don't call her 'woman'." Niki snorted. "And second, don't hit her or shove her or-"
"No roughhousing, got it. Move along then." He sighed, resting his head in his hands.
"Don't be rude, like you are right now," Niki said. "And always just be yourself." She smiled.
"Again with the smiling!" He hissed.
"Do you know what she likes?" Niki asked.
"No," Tommy said. "Flowers and bunnies?" he snorted, rolling his eyes.
"Don't assume she's like me, everyone's different," Niki said. "She might like potatoes and sword fighting, you never know."
"You just described Technoblade." Tommy scoffed. "She said I was better looking than Technoblade," He added, forcing down a smile.
"She did?" Niki gasped. Tubbo let out a squeaking sound and Tommy covered his eyes with his hands in embarrassment. Did I just say that aloud? He thought.
"Yeah..." he muttered, stealing a peak from in between his fingers.
"Oh!" Tubbo said. "Tommy, her birthday is soon, remember? She's turning sixteen." Tubbo said quickly. Tommy sat up and stared at Niki.
"What do I get her?" He demanded.
"I don't know," Niki shrugged. "Get to know her, you'll find the perfect gift, I know you will."
"No hints? Nothing?" Tommy sighed.
"Get her flowers with whatever gift you're giving her," Niki said. "She'll like that." Tommy smiled and got to his feet, knocking Niki's chair over in the process. He stepped over it and headed for the door.
"Tubbo, you can be the best man at my wedding." He said, grinning. Tubbo gripped his hand tightly as he left the house.
"Good luck!" Niki called. "Oh, and don't knock over chairs!" She added. Tommy stole a glance at Tubbo who was still smiling and headed towards L'manfield to sit on the rock once more. He wanted to hang out with Tubbo for one more day before he started learning all he could about Squeesh. Here goes nothing...
