"Neither of you."
"What?!" Komaeda exclaimed, his eyes widening in surprise. "What do you mean?"
"...I'm confused, (y/n)," Hajime admitted, scratching the side of his face with his finger.
I cleared my throat, looking up and both of the two boys. "Listen, I really care for both of you. I do. But I can't pick one of you, or both of you, for the matter. If I can't love myself, how can I love anybody else? So, for that reason, I've decided I can't be with either of you. Sure, we can still be friends, and I do love you both. But I can't pick, and for that reason, I'm picking me."
The two boys glanced at each other before looking back at me, puzzled expression on both of their faces. "Really?" They asked in unison, causing me to let out a small chuckle.
"Yes, really," I insisted, grabbing on to both of their arms. "I care for you both, I really do. But I want you guys to stop fighting over me, ok?"
The two of them stared at me in silence for a brief moment, before Hajime finally spoke.
"If that's what you want, (y/n)... I'll support you," the brunette insisted, staring at me with his olive colored eyes. "I will still protect you, but I am just lucky to be in your life."
Komaeda let out a small sign. "Oh, alright. If that's what you want, (y/n), I support you."
I beamed at both of them, nodding my head energetically. "Great! Glad that's settled. Now, how about we go join the others for breakfast?"
The two of them looked at each other again for a moment before nodding, following me back to the cafeteria.
And so, we joined the others again and continued on with island life. Though it was heart wrenching to decide on neither of them, as I still had feelings for both of them, I knew I was better off alone than I was picking one or the other.
At the end of the day, this was what I wanted.
But why, when I made it back to my cottage after a day full of activities, did I end up crying?
((Eh sort of bittersweet ending but I have one more lined up!))
