I woke up alone in the movie theater, the turning of a distant film reel the only thing breaking the melancholic feeling. I sighed softly as I stood up, blood rushing to my legs as I haphazardly limped out of the theater. No one was in the lobby, either, so I decided to leave the place altogether in search of the others.

As I began walking down the path, I felt a strange heaviness develop in my chest. I began to sweat an abnormal amount, my heart racing inside of my chest. Not knowing where else to go, I walked into the hospital, which was the building nearest to me. Mikan stood inside, a worried look on her pale face.

"H-hi (y/n)," she stammered, her fingers curling up defensively. "A-are you alright?"

Instead of saying anything, I shook my head. The purple haired girl rushed up to me and placed a cool hand on my forehead. "You're b-b-burning up!"

I gave Mikan a sad look as she took me by the hand. "You're lucky we have a spare room.... though there's nowhere for me to rest now...."

Thousands of thoughts raced through my head as the nurse made me strip down and put on a sanitary blue robe. Were the others also ill? And what had I come down with? I opened my mouth to ask Mikan, but no words came out.

Once I was situated in my hospital room, she left me to fend for myself. It was not long before I was disturbed, as I heard a knocking on my foot shortly after. The perpetrator barged in without me being able to permit it.

"(Y/n)..." Hajime murmured, the door clicking behind him. I sat up wearily in my bed, the boy approaching closer to sit in the chair at the side. "I'm sorry about confusing you so much... you don't deserve it... could you ever forgive me?"

I opened my mouth to tell him I did, but not a sound came out. The boy watched me expectantly, a small frown sitting on his face. Wait a second. Don't tell me this mysterious illness makes me mute.

"Please answer me," Hajime begged in desperation. I tried even harder this time, but not as much as a moan came out of my lips. Tears began to well up in the corners of my eyes, as I was completely helpless.

"You're not even going to respond to me?!" He yelled, his frustration rendering to be anger. He clenched his fist as he turned to walk out of the room. "I guess I was wrong about apologizing to you after all. Goodbye."

I slumped back down into bed with tears streaming down my face. I turned to my right and noticed a notepad and pen sitting on the nightstand. Oh, how ironic. I really am the Ultimate Bad Luck after all.

It wasn't long before I got another visitor. This time, they didn't even bother to knock before entering. The only warning I got to their presence was a faint laugh echoing through the door.

Komaeda waltzed in slowly, his face so pale it almost looked grey. He, too, was clad in a blue robe identical to mine.

"Wow, your bad luck is truly horrible!" He laughed hollowly, wrapping his arms around himself. I opened my mouth to respond, but no words came out yet again. I determined in that instant that I had the mute disease, making me unable to communicate verbally.

"I don't even know why I came, I hate you so much! You disgust me, with your disgusting talent!"

I took the pen in hand and began to scrawl a message onto the paper. I can't talk, I wrote in sloppy handwriting as I held it up to the pale boy.

"Finally! Now no one has to hear your annoying voice!" He chuckled boldly. I froze up in place, unable to wrap my head around his words. I wasn't sure if this was the disease talking or if he was acting like his true self.

"Either way, I hope you die! I hope you succumb to the despair and never have hope again!" He let out one final manic laugh before slowly walking out of the room. I held my head in my hands, frustrated at my inability to talk. After a few silent minutes passed, I decided to read a bit of the book on my nightstand. Mikan came in with dinner, almost dropping the tray.

"After you eat, you should rest," she murmured, to which I nodded silently. I finished my food and then shut my eyes, falling into a dreamless sleep.

The next day passed by uneventfully, no one visiting other than Mikan. It wasn't until night when something happened. Komaeda barged into my room yet again, making the same manic laugh as yesterday.

"Come with me," he ordered, grabbing my wrist. I was suddenly yanked out of the bed, falling flat on my face. Before I could help myself up, I was being dragged out of the room like a rag doll. I tried to call out and protest, but not a single word came from my mouth.

Thankfully, we couldn't get very far. Hajime sat in a chair at the end of the hallway, his nose in a book. When he saw Komaeda pulling on me, he stood up furiously.

"What are you two doing?!" He yelled wrathfully. "Go back to your rooms, Tsumiki's orders!"

Komaeda continued to pull on me, thought Hajime came in and broke it up. He grabbed me by the hand and took me back to my hospital room. As he helped me lie down in my bed, he caught a glimpse of the note I wrote to Komaeda earlier.

"You... can't speak?" He asked hesitantly, a slight guilt in his voice. I nodded solemnly, my heart racing as he pulled me into a hug.

"I'm so sorry I yelled at you," he whined. "I don't know if you can ever forgive me... I'm so horrible to you, (y/n)...."

I turned away from him, grabbing the pen to scrawl out yet another note. I then presented it to him, the brunette blushing at its content.

Of course I forgive you.
