In Your Arms

When I was met with the sun permeating through my window the next morning, I felt a throbbing pain in my head. I gave it a quick rub before I threw myself off of the bed, getting ready to head to the restaurant. On my way out, I noticed a strange bottle sitting in the corner of my room. It looked almost like... a wine bottle.

Fuck. Suddenly the events of the previous night came rushing into my brain, clouding up my mind. My heart thumped as I remembered Hajime giggling, kissing my forehead, and putting me to bed. But one thing stuck out more than anything else.

"Because, I like youuuuu."

I waved it off, slamming the door behind me as I sprinted to the restaurant. He was just drunk, right? However, the second I met his eyes in the restaurant, I found myself pulling him aside to talk to him. I was acting on impulses, unable to control my actions.

"Last night..." I mumbled, my head still pulsating.

"Yeah? What about it?" He asked coyly, unsure about my abrupt demeanor.

"We... were drunk," I breathed. "And you said... that you liked me... is that true?"

He stared at me blankly, his mouth veiled shut. "Well... I don't want to hurt you."

"Huh? What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.

"I'm pretty torn," he mumbled. "It's nothing, don't worry about it. Just pretend last night never even happened."

"So you don't actually like me?"

"Drop it," he ordered, a sudden and strange anger in his voice. When he realized what he was saying, he snapped back to his usual self. "I'm sorry, that was rude. Just take what I said last night with a grain of salt, ok?"

I stormed off, not wanting to listen to him utter another word. I meant to walk a few feet away from him, so our conversation would end, but my feet didn't stop there. I found myself walking out of the hotel area, off of the first island, until I was met with the gates of the second island. Just as I was about to cross the bridge, I noticed the monobeast guarding the third was gone. Slightly excited, I made my way across the bridge until I was met with the new area.

I took a quick jog around the island, surveying the new places unlocked to us. There was a hospital, a movie theater, a hotel, and a strange area full of electronics. Intrigued, I decided to survey that area, trying to determine if any of them would work.

"Oh? Fancy meeting you here," a low male voice called. I turned and saw Komaeda standing to my left, his hands tucked in his pockets. The sun shone behind him in a strange way that almost made him appear angelic. Unamused, I directed my attention back towards the small television I had in hand.

He stepped closer to me, looking over my shoulder. "If I were you, I wouldn't touch that. Knowing your bad luck, it could explode or something!"

"Is that even possible?" I murmured, not wanting to give him any response. Truth be told, I was very angry, but not at him in the slightest. I set the TV down and let out a small sigh. "Why are you here in the first place?"

"I wanted to see this new island before anyone else," he stated bluntly. "It's pretty awesome, isn't it? The hope we can escape off of this island... it's quite strong, isn't it?"

"Mhm," I hummed almost inaudibly.

"Why the sad face? Did I do something?" The white haired boy pestered innocently. I merely shook my head, turning to him with slightly wet eyes.

"No, don't worry," I insisted. "It's not your fault."

"(Y/n)-chan..." Komaeda sighed, a bit of distress on his pale face. Suddenly, he grabbed me by the arm, pulling me away from the street.

"Where are you taking me?!" I yelled, a mixture of confusion and sadness in my voice. We came to a grinding haunt in front of the movie theater, at which he held the door open for me.

"I know just how to cheer you up, and to make your hope shine again," he grinned as I stepped inside. Despite the cringeworthy Monokuma decorations, it appeared to be a normal movie theater.

"....ah?" I mumbled, Komaeda signaling for me to stand where I was as he went to go talk to Monokuma. I watched their conversation, unable to hear what they were saying. After a few minutes, Komaeda returned to stand next to me with a triumphant grin on his face.

"Let's go inside," he stated, pulling me behind him as we walked inside the dark and empty movie theater. He led me to one of the back most rows, sitting in the dead middle of it. We sat next to each other in silence as the movie screen flickered to life.

"Ya know, Monokuma said he didn't have any other movies than that one stupid Wizard of Monomi one I watched earlier," he explained. "But I persuaded him to let me show you this."

Suddenly, my eyes gleamed in excitement as the beginning of (favorite movie) played for us. I turned to him with a wide smile, hugging him at an awkward angle. "How did you know this was my favorite movie?"

"Call it my good luck," he giggled happily. I turned back to the screen, focusing my full attention onto it. Suddenly, I felt a hand lightly place itself on my thigh, a small squeeze following short after. Komaeda grinned at me, a devious glint in his eyes.

"Hey," I scoffed, the boy retracting his hand. After a few moments, I began to rest my head onto his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me, the smell of his cologne filling my nostrils. While I was completely engrossed in the movie, and the sensation of Komaeda's touch, I felt slightly exhausted from the events of the night before. I felt my eyelids grow heavy as I was slowly pulled into a warm and comforting sleep.
