When I awoke after the chicken incident, it was already morning of the next day. I had somehow ended up in the bed of my cottage, despite not remembering walking there. Shaking it off, I headed to the restaurant for our daily meeting.
"Good morning, (y/n)-chan," a voice cheered. I turned around and saw Chiaki walking towards me, the hood of her sweatshirt over her head.
"Hiya, Nanami-San," I exclaimed with a smile. I walked side-by-side with her to the restaurant, which wasn't too far away. "Hey... by any chance do you know how I got to my cottage yesterday? I remember passing out, but not walking there..."
"Oh, I think Komaeda-kun carried you," she exclaimed. "Though Hinata-Kun eventually woke up, you were out like a rock. But don't worry, he definitely chewed Teruteru out for you."
"He... carried me?" I echoed in disbelief, my eyes widened. While I didn't know how he got into my cottage, I was thankful that he would do something so kind for me. As for Hajime... I just hoped he was still alright.
As soon as we made it upstairs, Byakuya insisted that we would have a party in the old building that night. When it came time to assign roles, it was decided that Teruteru would cook the food and that Komaeda would clean up the old building. After our brief meeting, we were free to do whatever for the rest of our day as long as we were up to attending the party come nighttime.
Before I decided on hanging out with anyone, I wanted to thank Komaeda somehow. I decided to bring him some food from Rocketpunch Market so he'd have something to tide himself over with while cleaning. I walked into the old building, the floors creaking as I entered the main room.
"Hey, Komaeda-Kun, I brought you so-"
Before I could even finish my sentence, all of the food I was holding crashed down onto the floor. I stood in the doorway, watching in horror as Komaeda held some sort of object. But it wasn't just any old object.
It was a knife.
I froze like a deer caught in the headlights, unable to move. As soon as Komaeda noticed my presence, he gave me a devious smirk. I cupped my hands over my mouth, stifling a scream. I turned to run away, but he grabbed my arm.
"Let go!" I shrieked, squirming under his grip, which remained tight.
"Shhhhhh," he whispered, sending chills up my spine. "I'll spare you if you listen to me."
Not knowing what else to do, I stopped trying to escape. My heart raced inside of my chest as my arms and legs shook in terror.
"Good girl," he cooed. "I'm only going to keep this here in case of self defense. I'm not trying to hurt anyone, so you don't need to worry. But, if you tell a soul, I'll use it to harm you tonight."
"I can't t-t-trust you," I stammered anxiously.
"Please trust me, (y/n)-chan," he pleaded, his face growing closer to mine. I felt my stomach churn, not wanting him to get any closer.
"Ok, Fine," I lied. "Now let me go!"
The second he loosened his grip on me, I bolted out of the old building. The second I was outside, I made a beeline for my cottage. I locked the door behind me, wrapping the covers around me for support. Was I really almost just murdered back there?
I felt salty tears sting my cheeks as I just sat there shaking. I was too terrified to tell anyone, for fear of what they might do to me or them. But I couldn't just keep that inside, as just knowing that he held something like that in his possession terrified me. However, Byakuya did emphasize safety and making sure everyone survived on the island, so I had hoped he would check the party room to make sure it was safe.
"Can't hide in here forever..." I mumbled softly to myself as I climbed off of my bed. Once it was neatly made, I headed back out into the sunlight.
"(Y/N)!" A female voice shouted, causing me to jump slightly. I turned and saw Sonia standing nearby, an excited grin on her face. "The other girls and I are planning on swimming at the pool in a few minutes. Might you want to join us?"
"Sure, why not?!" I giggled, turning right back into my cottage. I changed into my swimsuit, stepping right back outside. Sure enough, Sonia, Ibuki, Peko, Akane, Mahiru, and Saionji all stood at the poolside, also outfitted in swimsuits.
"Where are Tsumiki-San and Nanami-Chan?" I wondered out loud. Memories of Komaeda from earlier played through my mind, but I merely tried to shut them out.
"They didn't want to come," Peko stated bluntly, untying her silver hair from its usual high braids.
"It's no matter," Mahiru stated dismissively, a small smile on her face. "Let's just enjoy ourselves!"
"Kyaaaaaa! Ibuki is ready to have some fun!" The rockstar exclaimed in excitement. Before I had time to react, she had shoved me into the pool. Water filled my lungs as I quickly resurfaced, hacking and coughing.
"What was that about?!" I yelled. Before I could get a response, I was suddenly alerted by Ibuki preparing to jump into the pool. I quickly swam out of the way, the eccentric girl's cannonball still causing quite a large splash. Everyone else eventually made it in, and we played together for the rest of the afternoon.
Before I knew it, it was time for the party. I made sure to carry nothing on me, knowing my bad luck would only cause me to get in serious trouble.
I let out a sigh as the nighttime announcement played, signifying it was time to head to the old building. I took a step out of my cottage, the hum of crickets filling my ears.
I knew that I was unlucky, but I hoped that just this once everything would be alright.
