"A fourth island, huh?"
The remaining 10 of us all stood around the cafeteria, listening to Usami claim that we had yet another island to explore. After quickly finishing breakfast, Hajime and I made our way there together.
Upon further inspection, we were able to determine that the fourth island was a sort of amusement park. It featured various games, rides, and buildings, namely a large castle and a funhouse.
"A rollercoaster..." Hajime sighed as we came up to a small black pavilion. "We should gather the others here and go for a ride."
It wasn't long before I found myself climbing into the orange car of the rollercoaster. Hajime decided to sit up front with Sonia, but I was admittedly too terrified to sit anywhere near there. I opted for a seat towards the back, tightly fastening the black strap around my waist.
"Mind if I sit with you?" A voice called in my direction. I whipped my head to the side and saw Komaeda leaning over the car, a small smile on his lips. I nodded wordlessly as he slipped into the seat next to me, fastening himself in as well.
"Are you afraid of roller coasters, Komaeda-Kun?" I asked him in an attempt to initiate a conversation.
"Not particularly," he responded calmly. "However, I haven't ridden on very many of them before."
"Yeah, me neit-" before I could finish my sentence, I was startled by the feeling of the rollercoaster jerking forward. A small yelp escaped my lips, at which a small chuckle came from Komaeda's.
I felt my heart begin to race as the rollercoaster began to roll up the hill. I winced as it reached the top, preparing for a hard and speedy descent. I felt Komaeda grip my hand reassuringly, and I noticed my fears began to fade away. Everyone screamed as we speeded down the hill, but I could only smile calmly.
Once the rollercoaster came to a halt, monokuma explained to us that there was a lot more in store for us if we all agreed to take the train to the funhouse. The next thing I knew, I was sitting next to Chiaki as the train began to start its slow voyage.
However, we were too naive to believe nothing would happen. A thin white gas flooded the train, the other students beginning to cough and hack. I felt my mind grow dizzy as I fell forward, easing into a deep slumber.

"Are you alright, (y/n)-chan?"
My eyes fluttered open, a fluorescent pink ceiling coming into view. I noticed Komaeda hovering over me, a concerned frown on his face. He extended his arm out to me and I took it, slowly wobbling to my feet.
"Is this the funhouse?" I asked quietly, noticing the other students' concerned expressions. Komaeda nodded grimly at me, a slightly sympathetic glint in his slate grey eyes.
"At any rate, we should split up and look around here," he ordered the whole group. Suddenly, he was staring at Hajime with distrusting eyes. "I think it's best for me to go with (y/n)-chan. No one can really trust Hajime, because no one knows what his talent is."
"Are you kidding me?" The brunette asked angrily. Hesitantly, the other students nodded in agreement, beginning to pair off without him.
"Let's get looking," Komaeda smiled at me as he took my hand and guided me towards the stairs. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Hajime shooting is a dirty look. I followed Komaeda down into a hallway with five doors, each demarcated with a different symbol.
"Let's try this one first," he insisted as he swung the door open. Inside was a lavishly furnished room, with bright yet expensive decorations galore. Komaeda shut the door behind us as we began to survey the room.
"There isn't anything in here," I muttered, turning back towards the door. Much to my horror, I realized he was blocking it shut. "Hey... can we go?"
"Not a chance," he growled hostilely. My eyes widened as he began to step towards me, and I began to back away in response. Eventually, I ended up meeting a wall, him standing a few mere inches away from me.
"Stop! Get away from me!" I protested, shouting as loudly as I could.
"I picked this room for a reason," he chuckled darkly. "It's completely soundproof."
"No..." I muttered nervously. I shook my head, trying to make sense of the situation. "Whatever. Why are you holding me here?"
"I want to ask you... why were you with Hajime last night? What did that talentless freak do to you?"
"Nothing! We just went stargazing together," I cried desperately. Komaeda suddenly backed away from me, a suspicious glare still sitting on his face.
"Alright," he sighed. "I was afraid he was trying to hurt you."
"How did you even know we went stargazing last night?" I exclaimed, flipping the interrogation onto him.
"...don't worry about it," he insisted dismissively. I only shook my head in response, storming out of the room angrily. Before I could reach the doorknob, I was frozen in place by Komaeda grabbing my hand. I turned to face him, a slightly terrified expression on my face.
"I'm sorry I made you upset," he sighed sadly. "I'm just looking out for you, is all. I don't want anyone to hurt you- you're already pretty unlucky as is."
"Um... thanks I guess?" I giggled nervously. Komaeda gave me a content smiled as he pulled closer to me, wrapping his arms around my torso. I hugged back, the warmth of his jacket radiating out towards me. When we pulled away, I noticed his ghostly pale fingers snake towards my chin, tilting it upward.
"You know... there's a reason why I care so much," he mumbled softly.
"Which is?"
Before an answer left his lips, he pressed them against mine. I kissed back, my heart racing in my chest. He cupped my face in his hands, and I hugged him a little tighter. When we were finished, a small smile formed on his lips.
"Does that explain it?"
