Dinner arrives slowly, all I've wanted to do it read Jason's reply and every time I've gone too, people have needed me. As sit down for lunch and check my phone, I have 3 messages, 3? why so many? I open the first one from this morning.
Jason: "it hasn't has t? I seem to remember you ask your friend to ask my friend to ask me why I haven't contact you for so many days, or am I wrong?
Yes, it's a proper dinner date, unless you don't want too, I should have properly asked you out to save your head the hurt and confusion" I blush and laugh, at least he can joke. I open the next one from him."It's been 4 hours since your first reply, my last message hasn't offended you has it?" Aw, bless him. He thought what I thought, I feel better now. I open the final text.
Nick: "you've either dropped off the face of the earth or forgotten to text me for 5 days. If it's the second one then I name you the poorest friend in history, so I will go with dropped off the earth to make myself feel better"
Holy fucking crap, Nick! I said I'd text him Saturday night, oh crap. I bet he's mad. I need to reply asap!"Oh god, Nick I'm so sorry, I went out with Cassie Saturday night and it's been a hectic week, come over for tea tonight? I'll update you in everything, including a dinner date, with a guy obviously. Miss you. A x"
I hope he'll come, knowing him he will, he can never turn town mums food, I need to ask her if she'll make extra."Is it alright is Nick comes for tea?" Send. I've never had to text so many people at the same time. I finally reply to Jason.
"For the record, I told her to not ask! She did that on her own accord so no, you're not totally wrong as it has worked a bit. But thanks for making me blush in work.
Okay, when? A x"
That reminds me, Lucy and Mr Wilcock. Really? How weird, I hope he treats her right, I wonder how it happened.
I'm having left over meat potato pie for lunch today, it tastes even better the day after. It's the only food I can reheat without it ending up like rubber.
I wait next to the microwave while my food heats up and I see Lucy coming over."Here, you left it on the table and it's been going off a few times" she hands me my phone.
"Thanks, it's probably mum, I asked her if Nick could come for tea tonight" she smirks.
"Cool, does he know about your new hot date?" I knew she was going to ask that.
"No, that's why he's coming round" the microwaves beep saves me from any further questioning. I go to sit down and open my new messages.Nick: "A dinner date? And with a guy no less? I'd have thought you was a lesbian with how you tell me it was a guy. Yeah I'll grace you with my presence I suppose, see you at 5 with wine, it'll be a long night" I hope not, I'm pretty nervous. I have an OK from mum so that's my plan for tonight, I start to eat my lunch when my phone vibrates again, this time it's Jason.
"I'm not sorry for making you blush, it has left me entertained all dinner imagining you blushing and trying to hide your face with your hair, like Saturday.
Even better news; you agreeing to a date, how bout we go out for food with your friend and Kyle then we go do our own thing after? Saturday around 1PM okay?" 'He remembers me doing that?' I then realise that I'm hiding my face with my hair. 'Fuck you Jason!' Making me self conscious of my actions. I hit reply."I've just cursed at you in my mind for making me self conscious of my actions, I was intact hiding my face, so thanks.
sounds good, how are we travelling? Got to go back to work, I'll text you once I'm home, Nick (if you remember him) is coming for tea tonight so I'll try and make time for you, hehe x" I lock my phone and put it in my pocket.
I stand waiting next to Lucy's car. Where is she? I hope this isn't what she does when I'm waiting, messing with Mr Wilcock, ew! Iook at my watch, it's 4PM. She best hurry, I have an hour to get home and prepare myself. Just as I start to look for her, she appears looking either flushed or upset, I hope for his sake it's flustered. She seems see and shakes her head."Wha-"
"Not now Ava, just get in the car" I agree, I can't say no while she's like this. Once we're in the car we sit waiting in complete silence. 5 minutes have passed and still nothing, I go to break to ice and my phone starts to play 'old school rock 'n' roll', I try to get my phone out of my pocket but it's jammed in my stupid skinny jeans! Why does Nick have to call me now of all times? He gives up calling me eventually and I slump into the seat and let my embarrassment swallow me up.
Lucy bursts out laughing, and I follow shortly after. Once we calm down Lucy takes a deep breath.
"I pulled Gary up on what he said to you this morning and we argued, it's nothing much" she lets out a huge sigh. What? It didn't bother me that much, I'm more bothered about him upsetting her.
"You didn't have too, but thank you, you toy two be okay?"
"Yeah, we will. By the way, it's nothing big, he took me out to dinner a while back and we're casually dating" she starts the car which signals that this conversation is over. I'm glad she seems happy. We finally get home and all I want to do is get in bed and stay in my Pajamas for the rest of the evening in stead of telling Nick about Jason. I wonder if it's too late to cancel? With that in mind, I hear Nick walk through the front door. Well, here goes nothing.
