Since Clove visited Snow she's been mentally unstable she's been clinging onto me like her dear life depends in it she's also been shaking a lot and sobs usually rack her delicate frame. I've been staying home with her comforting her trying to tell her I won't die, Snow can't kill me.
Our wedding on the other hand is a bit hard to handle, since Clove refuses to go to the Capitol. I have to speak over the phone to the stylist planning it. I planned the guests, seating arrangements and the food preparation already. All that's left is to book a venue and organise the best men, bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer.
I hang up the phone exasparated and turn to see Clove wide eyed and pale like a ghost. I sigh and carry her up stairs to bed and tuck her in. I smooth her hair back and she stares at her fingers.
"Cato, am I going to be mad forever like Annie" she says in a harsh whisper
I think back to the 70th Hunger Games, Annie witnessed her fellow district partner being beheaded, which drove her to insanity. She has certain problems which includes her closing her eyes and covering her ears, laughing when it was unnecessary, and staring into the distance at strange times.
I stare at Clove I can't afford to think that Clove will be like that, I'll protect her.
"No, you'll be fine I'm here to protect you forever" I reply
She smiles and entwines her fingers with mine and dozes off to sleep. I sit there staring at her. Why would Snow toture Clove with memories of her deceased cousin Natalie sending her to some extent insane.
Is it a price all us Victors have to pay??
Does the Capitol just toture us like puppets for show??
