One morning on Merediths 26th week of pregnancy, Derek woke up to an empty bed. Meredith went in early for work, and took Bailey with her. Derek and Meredith had discussed having a Derek/Zola day and a Meredith/Bailey day, and today happened to be that day for Derek.

He rolled out of bed and walked to Zola's room. "Hi princess." Derek said with a smile as he saw his daughter awake and smiling. "Daddy!" Zola exclaimed happily. "Good morning." He said as he lifted her in his arms. "Mornin." Zola replied. "Want some breakfast?" He asked. Zola nodded.

They got to the kitchen and Derek put some cereal out for the two of them. "Zo, you want daddy to teach you how to fly fish?" Derek asked enthusiastically. "What's that?" Zola asked. "It's basically just fishing, but with different angles and stuff. Do you know what fishing is?" Derek asked. "Catch the fishies!" Zola replied.

"That's right! IF you want to go I have a surprise for you." Derek said. "Wanna go!!" Zola yelled. "Okay. We can go after you eat breakfast." Derek replied with a chuckle.

They finished eating and got dressed in the appropriate attire, Derek in some jeans and a zip up with a fishing jacket over, and Zola dressed in practically the same thing, except all pink. "Do I looks good daddy?" Zola asked with a smile. "You look fantastic. Let's go!" Derek said as he swooped Zola up and walked outside.

"Zo, this is your surprise." Derek said as he handed her a pink doc McStuffins fishing pole that he had hand made. "Woah!! It's doc McStuffins daddy!!! And it's pink!" Zola squealed. "You like it?" He asked. "Yaaaa!!" Zola yelled.

They got in the car and drove to the lake Derek frequently fished at and got out. Zola grabbed dereks hand and they walked together to the water. He brought two Chairs for them to sit in and set them up. "So Zo, you cast the line like this." Derek explained as he stood behind her and gently pulled back the rod and released it into the water.

"When you feel a tug, let me know Zo." Derek requested. Zola nodded, very focused on the water. Derek chuckled and discreetly took out his phone and snapped a picture of just Zola. "Zo, look at daddy." Derek said. Zola looked and noticed the camera, flashing a big smile. "Cheeseeeee." Zola said as Derek pressed the button.

He sent it to Meredith and resumed fishing, listening and laughing to Zola's random babbles.

"Dada!! Daddy!" Zola yelled. "Wht is it zo?" Derek asked. "I feeled a tug!" She screamed. Derek walked over to her. "Do this zo. I'll help." Derek said as he reeled in the line. The fish came out of the water, squirming everywhere.

"Ahhh!" Zola screamed happily. Derek grabbed the line and held it in front of Zola. "Fishie." Zola squealed. "Say cheese zo." Derek said. Zola smiled and Derek snapped a picture.

It was at this moment where Derek realized once again that he had everything he could ever want. A beautiful daughter, a beautiful little boy, a little girl on the way, and a gorgeous wife. His life was perfect.

Derek and Zola went home. Meredith and Bailey still weren't home, which was to be expected because it had only been a few hours. "Daddy?" Zola asked out of the blue. "Yeah zo?" Derek replied. "When my baby sister coming?" She asked. Derek smiled. "About 3 more months honey." He replied. "But that's sooooo long." Zola whined.

"Where's mama and bails?" She asked after a pause. "Mamas working and bails went with her so we could have a daddy Zola day." He replied. "Ohhhh." She said. "When they home?" She asked. "A few hours. What do you want to do zo?" Derek asked. "Play princess tea party." Zola said excitedly. Derek smiled and nodded, taking her hand and walking to their playroom.

An hour later, Bailey and Meredith came home. "Hi." Derek said as he stood up and embraced his wife, holding her close in his hands. Meredith rested her head on his chest, exhausted from the long shift. "How are you?" He asked as he rubbed her bump gently. "Good. Tired." Meredith replied. "Daddy." A small voice interrupted. He turned around and smiled when he saw Bailey with a huge smile on his face.

"Hi bails!" Derek exclaimed. He picked Bailey up and held him close. "Did you have a good day?" Derek asked. "Me and 'Fia played with the blocks!" Bailey said happily. "That's cool!" Derek responded. Bailey scrambled out of his arms and ran over to Zola.

"What do you want for dinner?" Derek asked, pressing a kiss to Merediths lips. "I may have picked up some Italian." Meredith said with a soft blush. Derek chuckled. "Sounds good to me. Check this out." Derek said as he slid through the pictures on his phone. Mereditj gasped. "Zo caught a fish?" She exclaimed. "She did." Derek said proudly.

"She's growing up." Meredith said. "She is. Let's get some dinner." Derek agreed as the two of them walked to the kitchen.

"How was your day?" He asked. "Good. I scrubbed in on a pancreatitis case and he survived." Mereditj said with a smile. "And how's our little girl doin?" Derek asked. "Kicking like crazy and making mama tired." Meredith replied Honeslty. "Aw." Derek said as he rubbed her back gently. "Let's finish eating and then get you to bed." Derek said softly. Meredith nodded and dug in.

That night, Meredith and Derek put the kids to bed and crawled into their own bed. Derek knew she was exhausted just from Being pregnant, but working a long shift didn't help things either. "Sleep Mer. I love you." Derek whispered. "I love you too." She mumbled back.
