A week later, Meredith and Derek were standing inside of the OR, operating together on a car accident victim. "How's it going down there?" Derek asked. "Almost done. You?" Meredith replied with a wince. "Done. Are you okay?" Derek asked softly.

Meredith nodded. "My backs just dying a little bit." She said with a shrug as she closed up the patient and wobbled out of the OR, Derek close behind. They scrubbed out together and walked to the nurses station.

Meredith grabbed the nurses station to keep steady as she attempted to stretch her back, it being difficult with her 32 week bump. "Come here." Derek said softly. Meredith walked over to him and smiled.

"I saw this online. It's completely healthy for the baby." Derek said. "I'm gonna lift up your bump gently for you. It should take some pressure off of your back." He said. Meredith gave a skeptical nod and he wrapped his arms and hands under her bump.

"Ready?" He asked. "Sure." She replied. Derek gently and carefully lifted up the bump, taking at least 10 pounds off of her back. "Oh my god." Meredith moaned in relief. "It's working?" Derek asked surprised. "Oh yeah." Meredith said relaxed.

From a distance, Carolyn Shepherd and her 3 daughters watched Derek so delicately pull up his wife's large baby bump. He did it with so much care. They walked over to the two and tapped Derek on the shoulder. Derek very gently let go of Merediths bump and turned around. "Mom? What are you guys doing here?" Derek asked in surprise.

Meredith looked at Derek in confusion. "Well, we know your due soon, so we wanted to visit before she comes." Carolyn replied. "My Meredith, your absolutely glowing!" She exclaimed as she looked her daughter in law up and down. "Uh, thank you." She replied awkwardly.

"Back is killing you?" Nancy guessed. "So much." Meredith replied with a small laugh. "No wonder, you weigh like 10 pounds." Kathleen said with a chuckle. "Uh, we're off in 10, do you guys want to come over?" Derek asked. "Sure." Carolyn replied. "I'll send you the address." Derek said. "Okay. Well meet you two there." She said as she and her daughters walked off.

"Derek?" Meredith asked in shock. "I had no idea they were coming. I swear." Derek said in surrender. She giggled. "Let's get the kids and get home I guess." She said. Derek nodded and grabbed her hand as they walked off to get their kids.

A half an hour later, Meredith, Derek and the kids arrived at the same time as the Shepherd women did. They went inside the house and the kids immediately wanted to talk to their aunts and grandma. "Nana, I gonna have a baby sister soon." Zola said proudly as they sat on the couch all together. "Really?" Carolyn asked in fake shock. "Yeah nana!" Bailey yelled happily.

"I gotta be the best bwother ever." Bailey said proudly. "And I'm gonna be the best sister!" Zola said happily. "I'm sure you guys will be!" Nancy said with a smile. "So Meredith, when exactly are you due?" Lizzie asked. "December 18th. So a few more weeks." She replied.

"Did that thing baby brother did earlier actually help?" Nancy asked, intrigued as an OB. "WhT thing?" She asked. "Where he kinda lifts the baby up." Nancy replied. Meredith blushed slightly, not knowing that they saw that. "Uh, yeah. It really did." Meredith replied. Derek smiled as he massaged his fingers into her back.

"Where'd you find that?" Carolyn asked. "I did a little research the other day." He replied. "Good. Meredith, your back must be killing you. How are your feet?" Carolyn asked. Having carried 5 kids of her own, Carolyn knew the pain of being pregnant. "They've been better." Meredith admitted. Dereks brow furrowed and he lifted her feet up onto his lap and started massaging them.

Carolyn and her daughters watched in admiration at how caring and how lovingly Derek took care of his pregnant wife. Carolyn knew she had raised a fine young man and smiled to herself, knowing that her husband would've been proud.

After a few hours, the kids started to get cranky, and quite honeslty, Meredith did too. "We're gonna head out. We're staying  at a hotel nearby for a few days." Carolyn said. "Okay. See you soon." Derek replied as he opened the door for them. "Love you both." Carolyn said as she hugged them and exited the room. The sisters bid their goodbyes and Meredith and Derek were left to a quiet house.

They put the kids to bed and climbed into their own bed. "Derek?" Meredith asked hesitantly. "Yes?" He responded. "I don't know that we should name the baby, but I...I want Lexie to be in there somewhere. Either as her middle name or real name." She said nervously. Derek smiled. "Okay." He said softly. "Okay? Your okay with that?" Meredith asked. "Of course. Lexie was your sister, Meredith. If it was a boy I would've suggested Mark." Derek replied honeslty.

"I miss her." Meredith whispered. "She would've loved to be an aunt again." She added sadly. "I know. Mark would've loved to be an uncle again too." Derek replied as he held his wife closer. "I miss them both. So much." Meredith admitted. "I do too. But their looking over us right now. They'll make sure we're alright." Derek whispered. "I love you." She said quietly. "I love you too." He replied.
