Dylan's POV——-

I made it upstairs without anyone stopping me. I thought of Kayla who they had to sedate because she was screaming and hyperventilating.

I thought of Connor who stuck himself with a needle. I remember how he use to be with Cora gone.

How we all were. Like a person without any limbs and a heart disease.

I yanked the door open that let me outside. I took a big gulp of air and sighed. I felt confined inside the house.

I collapsed against the house. I tried to even my breathing when a slick black car pulled up.

I didn't get up to say hello to my boyfriend. Just kept trying to breathe. I heard the door slam. I get him running toward me.

"What happened?" He asked immediately. I didn't answer. He wrapped his arms around my body as I leaned into him.

"What happened, baby?" He asked slowly.

My voice was choked up since I hadn't spoke in awhile. "She got shot. She- she got shot." My voice managed to get out.

"Cora?" Zaine's voice faltered. I glanced up at him through my glossy eyes. Not very manly. I know.

He spoke as if he knew her as more than my little sister who busted us and told us she liked both men and women.

Nonetheless, I nodded into his body as he pulled her closer. He didn't care we were lied out in the grass as I cried into his grey shirt that made him look incredibly hot.

"What happened?" Zaine demanded.

"They shot at Connor. She jumped in front of the bullet." I explained. Zaine has been my friend since Cora went missing.

He knew about the Mafia. I had told him two years ago after he heard my father and I discussing something to do with it.

He kissed my forehead and moved my hair that was covering my eyes.

"She will be okay." He assured me, but he didn't really know. I know she has the ability to heal but does that extend to gunshot wounds?

My phone dinged. I slowly reached into my pocket and pulled it out.

Luca-

They're done working on her. Come back for update.

I rose to my feet with Zaine throwing me a questioning glance. "She's out of surgery." I explained. He nodded.

"Come with me?" I begged with my eyes. He smiled softly and took my extended hand. We made our way to the hospital room never letting go of his hand.

We walked into the waiting room where my family was along with a team of doctors. They threw me a glance and motioned for me to come.

I noticed Gray was standing beside my mother. He shouldn't have to hear this.

I dug into my back pocket and pulled out a dollar bill. I approached him a bend down. "Hey, buddy. Will you go get me and you some Skittles?" I asked. He looked conflicted but took the dollar and ran off toward a vending machine we had installed.

I straightened up and clutched Zaine's hand.

"We were able to get the bullet out of her body. However, she lost a lot of blood. But her body being able to repair itself has helped her significantly. Right now she is on the mend, but we do think she will have a complete recovery." The doctor told us.

My mom cried in relief as my father held her. I leaned against Zaine and closed my eyes in relief.

Luca was beaming. "When will Kayla and Connor wake up?" My father asked.

"Soon. The drugs that they were injected with should wear off within the hour." He answered.

"Until then. Get some rest. You all look exhausted." The doctor ordered. My mother picked up Gray who had come running back with candy and told him they are going to take a nap.

"Luca. Come with me. We are going to find the sick bastards who took a shot at my family. And we are going to kill them. Slowly." My father demanded. They scurried off leaving only myself and Zaine.

We started up the stairs toward my room. Once inside I looked at a small mirror I had in my room. I was covered in Cora's blood.

"I am going to take a shower." I informed Zaine while taking off my shirt.

"Can I join?" He flirted. I faced him.

"Nah. You're too distracting." I answered. He pouted at that. I chuckled at his expression.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips to his. "Later." I told him before walking into my bathroom.

"Tease." He yelled. I just laughed at him and stripped out of the rest of my clothing.

I stepped into the running water in the shower and let it wash over me. I took a deep breath as I saw the blood go down the drain.

My sisters blood. Immediately, I began scrubbing the blood off my hands. Tears fell down my face along with the water.

I let out a gasp as more blood was scrubbed off my body. "Get off." I hissed.

I heard a knock on the door. "You okay in there?" Zaine's voice questioned from the other side.

"Yeah," I answered trying to make my voice sound strong. "Fine."

"Alright, well, Kayla and Connor are awake." Zaine informed me. I made sure to scrub the rest of the blood off.

I got out of the shower and tugged on a black hoodie with sweats. Letting my hair do whatever it wanted I walked into my room.

I knew my eyes were puffy. I grabbed Zaine's hand. "Let's go talk to my brother." I told him and we descended down the stairs.

On the couch sat a groggily looking Kayla and Connor. "What's happening with Cora." Connor demanded as we all trickled into the living room.
