Kayla and I walked downstairs, hand in hand. Dylan was sprawled out on the couch with Zaine burrowed into his side.
"Hey ugly." Dylan greeted me. I smiled, sarcastically.
"Where's mom and dad?" I asked. He glanced over his shoulder.
"Hospital room with Con. They're helping him to his room." He answered. I nodded.
I glanced over at Kayla. She shook her head and waved her hand telling me to go on.
I cleared my throat. "So, Dyl, will you help?" I ask. He glanced up from Zaine's face.
"Help with what, Co?" He asked as he moved Zaine's hair.
"Save the others that were taken." I pressed. He sighed.
"Cora, you do know that isn't all on you, right?" He asked, annoyed.
"Of course, but I also know that they are in pain. And hell will freeze over before I leave them to suffer." I answered.
He angled his head downward. "Alright. If it means that much to you, I'm in. Plus, I really want to kill the sons of bitches who stole my sister and nearly killed my brother." He smiled.
"That's the spirit!" Kayla exclaimed cheerfully. She shared a look with Zaine.
"Dating a Banks sibling is fun, isn't it?" Zaine chuckled. Kayla joined in.
"You're not much of a picnic either." Dylan huffed toward his boyfriend who scoffed.
"You two are literally talking about kidnapping and murder casually." Zaine retorted, crossing his arms.
"Fair point." I butted in. Dylan's neck practically fell off his head as he stared at me.
"Okay. No. No. I do not accept this betrayal! You make me sick." He cried dramatically and pushed Zaine away from him.
"Babe." Zaine complained because it was so quick and put Zaine in a uncomfortable position.
"Don't 'babe' me! My baby sister and my love teaming up against me! The betrayal is too much!" He continued.
Kayla was snickering, but made sure Dylan didn't notice and drag her in.
Finally Kayla nudged me. "Maybe go back to our previous reason to coming down here?" She offered.
I nodded my head. "Very good idea. Why did we come down here?" I asked. My mind was blank. I was too busy laughing at Dylan.
Kayla groaned. "Come on. Let's go see your dad." She began pulling my arm. I waved to the boyfriends.
Zaine returned it, but Dylan crossed his arms and held his nose in the air.
"Priss." I heard Zaine mutter to Dylan once he saw how he looked.
"Traitor." Dylan remarked. Then Kayla and I were off to the hospital room.
We walked into Connor's hospital room where Bree was sat criss cross, talking to Connor. And my parents. Well.
They were circling each other. Fisted raised. "You wanna go, old man? I'll beat your ass, you wrinkly piece of fruit?" My mother insulted Dad.
Bree snorted. "Yes, Mom! Drag his ass!" My twin cheered.
You would never guess he almost died last night. Hell, you couldn't guess my dad was a Mafia Boss.
"Come at me, you short mean old banana!" My dad roared.
My mom stopped circling. Her hands were on her hips. "Oh shit." Kayla whispered beside me.
"He pissed off Mom." I agreed.
"Retreat?" Kayla asked, her voice shook with fear.
"No. She's not mad at us. It's fine." I denied.
"Now, you listen here, you old fruit! I am your wife! I will not be disrespected." She scolded.
My dad was white. "Of course not, my love. I am very sorry. I am a stupid, old, wrinkly fruit." He spoke.
"You bitch." Luca laughed quietly. I didn't even notice he was behind me.
Dylan and Zaine were behind us as well. They were quiet. Probably afraid of Mom.
"And you seven," Mom pointed at all of us. My eyes widened. "You were just going to watch?" She asked.
We immediately started apologizing and sucking up. It's true. We are pathetic. To be fair, moms are scary.
"Mom is so dramatic." Luca whispered in my ear. I chuckled.
We all piled into Connor's room. "A family meeting. This isn't going to end well." Connor commented.
Then Kayla's dad walked in. "What's up nieces, nephews, friends, daughters, and significant others?" He smiled.
Kayla groaned. "Dad, stop being weird." She fussed, pulling him to the ground to sit.
He looked offended, but didn't say anything. "Dad, I need to ask you of something."
Connor straightened. In his condition, he wouldn't be able to fight. I am not complaining.
Hell, that makes me smile. Honestly, I don't want a member of my family involved in this shit, but I need the help.
"Ask away, princess." My dad motioned with his hand for me to continue. I sighed.
Kayla's hand found its way to mine. I glanced over at her. She gave me a nod of reassurance.
"I was wondering, if you would lend the gang and help me get those kidnapped twins back." I told him.
He looked at me. "Baby girl, we are on the edge of war already between some wannabe gang. I don't know if I can spare the man power." He answered.
I sighed. "Dad please. These twins, they've got nothing. No hope. I am them. Daddy, I need to help them." I begged.
"Princess, why are you putting this all on you? It is not your place to save them." He assured me.
From Connor's eyes, I knew he wanted to help. "You're right. It isn't all on me. But it feels like it is. I need to help them. And if you won't help me then I'll do it on my own." I told him.
I wasn't trying to be manipulative. Though it sounds like I am. I guess, I am just desperate.
"I'll see what I can do." My dad relented. I squealed and wrapped my arms around his much larger body.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." I laughed. His arms wrapped around my body.
"Of course, sweetheart." He smiled. I pulled away and looked over at Kayla.
I walked toward her. I proceeded to get down on one knee. Her eyes bugged out.
"Kayla, will you go on a date with me?" I asked. She grinned.
Kayla grabbed my hands pulling me up. "Cora, I would love to go on a date with you." She assured me.
She pressed her lips to mine, gently. Then pulled away since it was incredibly awkward to kiss in front of our parents.
I checked the time then looked back to her. "Meet me in the garden in a hour and a half. And we will go on our date." I told her.
"And where are we going, love?" She asked. I grinned.
"Now, that's a surprise." I giggled. She huffed.
I got my first date!
