Cora's POV——

I panted my on the ground as a knife was in my thigh. Cassidy was in a similar position. Groaning, I yanked the knife out.

My wound healed almost instantly. Now, I can heal fast, but that does not mean my pain tolerance is any better.

Liam was grinning at me like a deranged cat. "You know, torturing you, it's fun. But I really want to get some mental torture as well. So," he spoke dragging a knife through my hair. "How about I get that pretty little bitch of yours and cut her up?"

"I'll kill you! If you touch her, I will kill you!" I threatened, jumping toward him. I was brought back by the chains that bound us. He began laughing.

"You? You're like a dog, chained." He insulted me with a sneer.

"Dogs know how to bite." I retorted, baring my teeth in defiance. He raised his fist and hit me across the face with it.

Gold knuckle bands on his hands. I grunted in pain. I heard Cassidy make a sound behind me, but she didn't dare speak out. Smart.

"You are going to pay. Hell will rain down on you." I laughed, blood stained my teeth.

I could taste the metallic. I reared back and spit it on him. His face scrunched in disgust before hitting me again.

He walked out of the dungeon, slamming the cage door behind him. "You know him?" Cassidy groaned as she tried to pull a knife out of her foot.

"Family friend." I smiled, sarcastically. She managed to get the knife out.

"Let me see that." I told Cassidy. She put the knife in my hand. My hands were tied together, so it was difficult.

I bent down and shoved the knife into the lock. "What are you trying to do?" Cassidy asked.

"I am going to get us out of here." I answered as I twisted the knife. The lock clicked and my face broke into a smile.

Blood still stained my teeth. Cass let out a slight laugh. I pulled my feet out and stretched them.

I crawled over to her and unlocked her feet as well. She sighed in response with a smile. "Let me see your hands." I instructed.

She pushed them toward me. I shoved the knife into the lock and started to twist. "Where'd you learn this?" She asked.

"My Dad. Learned it when I was seven." I answered and continued to jiggle the knife.

"Why? Your Dad some criminal mastermind?" She laughed at the joke.

"Something like that." I answered seriously. Her face fell upon seeing mine. I gave her a small smile then I heard the lock click.

She broke into a grin. Cassidy threw her arms around me. "You are my new best friend, runner." She told me, excitedly.

"That's great. Now, please unlock my hands." I instructed. She nodded.

"How exactly?" She asked staring and the knife and chains. I let out a small chuckle. Forgot not everyone knows how to pick locks and handcuffs.

I explained quickly how to unlock the chains that bound my hands. It took her awhile, but eventually she got it.

The chains fell from my wrists. "Holy shit. I did that!" She whispered in awe.

"You ready to get out of this hell hole?" I asked with a grin. She returned the smile.

"I've been ready since I was 13." She answered. I jabbed the knife into the lock. It took longer than the chains but it made the clicking sound.

I honestly cannot believe how stupid Liam is. To leave a knife? Idiot.

The gate swung open slowly. "Let's go get the others." I whispered in Cassidy's ear. She nodded.

We were both completely healed despite the torture Liam had put us through. I slowly stepped into the hall, out of the cell.

Cassidy walked, hot on my heels. There was a slight sound and she clutched ahold to my elbow.

I raised my eyebrows at her. "What? You looked scared." She told me, shakily.

I rolled my eyes and she followed beside me. "You think the others have the brand yet?" Cassidy asked me.

"I'd think so. They just wanted to do us so quickly because they wanted to break out spirit." I answered as we keep walking down the hall.

"Seems they failed." She grinned. I gave her a small smile. Where the hell is Kayla?

I was getting extremely anxious not knowing where they took her. "My parents are on their way here." I confessed.

"Your parents the criminal masterminds?" She asked. I smiled and nodded.

"They are bringing reinforcements. We will all get out of here." I retorted. Her eyebrows scrunched together in confusion, but she didn't ask any more questions.

We continued our walk. "Any idea where we are going?" She asked. I grimaced slightly.

"Not a whole lot." I answered.

"Then, how do you know where to go?"

"Listen," I answered. "Our hearing picks up small sounds. I am listening for chains clanking, or people."

She stopped momentarily to listen. "I hear. They sound far."

"They aren't loud, so it's more difficult to hear. But we are getting closer." I told her. She eyed me as if trying to figure out how I use this ability.

"We need to get to a phone." She told me, suddenly. I glanced at her.

"I know you want to call your family. And you should, but right now, we need to free the others." I told her. She shook her head.

"I want to call your family. We can't release everyone and fight our way out. We need help now." She insisted. I hummed in response.

"Okay. Sorry. You're right. So, where do we look for a phone?" I ask. She shrugged.

"This might me absolutely idiotic, but how about we just open some doors and look? We need weapons anyway." She said in response.

"Sounds like a bad idea. I'm in." I agreed.

We open a few door with no avail. We only found a box cutter, letter opener, and piece of glass. Not much again these people with guns and knives.

"Let's try this one." She told me and pointed to a door. I nodded and took lead, walking in before her.

We had barely made it in when I felt a knife press against my throat. I let out a small gasp.

"Don't move." The voice said. I could place it.

It was Kayla.
