Kayla's POV————

I bit my nails nervously as Cora's family came into the room. To say I was pissed, would be an understatement. They fucking sedated me.

I glanced to Connor guessing he was sedated as well since he had asked about Cora.

Dylan sat across from us. I glanced to his hand which was intertwined with the boy from the morning we woke up drunk and the movies.

"Is she okay?" My voice broke as I spoke since I just woke up.

"She's out of surgery, but she is not awake." Aunt Mar answered me.

I mentally laughed to myself. Cora and I call each other's fathers our uncles and yet, we are constantly kissing and flirting. Gross.

"We were just about to go take a nap. Had to get something to eat." Auntie Mar told us.

"Can I see her?" I asked quickly. My aunt nodded. I glanced to Connor as if to ask if he was coming.

"Where's dad and Luca?" He asked with a groggy voice.

"Went to look for the shooters." Dylan answers his voice wavering.

"That's where I'm headed then." Connor spoke standing up.

"Sweetheart, are you sure you don't want to stay?" His mother asked.

"Mom, someone shot my twin. I am going after them." He told her before storming off.

"Bro, you don't have to go see her right now. But you aren't leaving. She could wake up any second and she will want her twin." Dylan told Connor. He sighed and sat back down on the couch.

I didn't stay. I quickly got to my feet and stumbled toward her room.

I opened the door and there she lied. Hooked up to some machines. I walked over to her, pulling up a chair and sat beside her.

I took her hand in mine. "You have to wake up now, Cora. I can't survive another 5 years without you. So wake up." I cried.

In my head, I knew she'd wake up soon. But in my heart, all I saw was my best friend lying motionless on the bed.

I climbed into the bed careful of the wires sticking out of her. I brushed fallen hairs out of her perfect face.

Looking down at her exposed scar on her neck, I trailed my finger over it. Glancing back toward her face.

I pressed my lips to hers before putting my head on her chest. I could hear her heart beating.

It was the most wonderful sound in the world. I stayed like that for a minute before picking my head back up.

I put my hands on the side of her face and kissed her again. This time I felt her lips move with mine.

Gasping, I pulled away. She laughed at my expression. "You can do that anytime you like, babe." She told me. I smiled.

"I am going to go get your mom." I told. She shook her head.

"Not yet. I want to stay like this with you for a little while." She told me. I nodded.

"You scared me." I mumbled. She grinned.

"I was fine. Never had a gunshot wound or scar before." She chuckled like it was a joke.

Cora's POV———

She frowned. "It's not funny, Co. You could've died. We were terrified." Kayla spoke.

I stroked her cheek. "I'm sorry. You're right." I told her.

"Is Connor okay?" I asked. She smiled softly.
