Chapter 14 : Edited on 8th of January 2022.
The players lined up in front of you after their light training for today. It was already sunset. If your parents were not aware of this duty of yours, they will definitely be furious about it. In fact, they only agreed to this because of the school's merits, and it was one of your weaknesses in school, your school performance.
You gazed upon Mitsui's body, fully analyzing him.
"Did you get enough rest before today's practice?" You asked.
He won't admit it himself, but these past few days except for basketball there's also a lot of things running in his mind lately. He wasn't the type to bother and burden someone with it, that's why he let himself suffer alone. And in silence. Among the members of the club, Mitsui was the closest to you, well not now but before.
You won't deny it nor admit that you still care for him, aside from being the medical-based manager of the team.
The attachment and memories are still there. They are one of those many things that have stayed before everything has changed due to Mitsui's injury, almost ruining his life.
He was at least glad, that you've noticed it.
"I did, F/N." He lied.
How long would he lie to prevent being a burden to someone? He doesn't want to be a burden on you at all. Because of his youth and teenage days with you there, were already enough. You being there is already enough for someone who still hopes for everything even in afar.
You forced a smile. Of course, you knew it when he lies. A part of you was tired and sick of it, how many times would he do that?
Mitsui is the first person you welcomed to your life after muting the world that surrounds you. He was the one who got you out of your comfort zone.
But there's also a part of you, that keeps of understanding. You've said it a lot of times, you compromise not to let yourself be involved with these basketball players, but you still failed.
Maybe because you looked up to someone, you've looked up to Mitsui for years now.
"Oi! Hisashi! What took you so long?!" Ryouta asked him.
"I'm going somewhere today, let's part here," Mitsui said.
"Huh?! To where?"
Hearing their conversation, you head towards their direction.
"Oh, F/N-chan! You going home?" Ryouta asked you casually.
"Yes, Miyagi-san. How about you two?" You asked.
"I'm waiting for Sakuragi! We have a place to visit today," he smirked.
You shook your head, you held your attache-case tight as you gaze upon Mitsui. "How about you? Where are you still going, Mitsui?"
"I-"
"Look, Rukawa's riding his bike asleep!"
