Chapter 16 : first person pov. Edited on 8th of January 2022.

Takeishi Middle School.

My first year in middle school was not that great nor bad. I have friends to talk to, and most of them are my classmates. I grew fond of having someone beside me because I hated being alone. I have no interest in school at all. I felt like it was just my obligation to study and learn something that will make me pass and go to high school after this.

"Ne, L/N-chan. Do you have plans to go to College?" Haru beside suddenly asked.

"Of course?" I answered a question. "I think it's normal to go to college after high school, right?"

Haru hesitated before laughing. "Of course! But it's not the case for someone like me, you know? You can say that because you're privileged enough to get into high school after this," she said smiling.

"What do you mean by that Haru-chan?" I was confused.

"N-Nothing! Let's not make the atmosphere heavy!" She chuckled. "Anyways, are you going to watch basketball practice with me?"

She has been bugging me about this basketball practice. Since I don't really have interest aside from being someone useful at school, I never had the chance to seek and look at our school clubs aside from mine.

"What's so interesting about basketball?" I asked her. I saw glitters glistened in her eyes, and I knew that she's ready to answer me in her three long paragraphs about basketball and how she loves it.

For the first time, I let myself be forced by Haru at the mens' basketball club and their ongoing practice match against our rival school. Haru keeps on talking about this certain person, she said that he's the only player who can last long on the court and the one who encourages his teammates the most.

"That's Hisashi Mitsui for you!" She chuckled and cheered after a black-haired with blue delinquents made a score.

His hair got me, it looks so soft even with this distance in the bleachers. Unlike how some of the players like it clean, his hair was a bit longer than the others. It looks like a natural style for someone like him. And I sense leadership from him, just like what Haru-chan said. He seems the one who leads his members.

"He's graduating, right?" I asked Haru beside me.

"Yes! It's sad that the last championship game would be his last game for middle school. But I'm sure I will still see him playing in high school."

I nodded. "You're right. He seems passionate about it,"

"Wow! You're actually watching, L/N-san!?"

"Uh, yeah? What am I going to do here aside from watching?" I asked, chuckling.

Our school's team won the practice match. I just kept on watching from the bleachers with Haru. And I'm afraid that I was fascinated by this Mitsui guy and his obvious passion for the sport. I was moved, that I feared I might get used to it, on watching their games with Haru.

For me to take a break for a long time in school, I used to walk around our neighbourhood, especially on a sea near our house, I don't really specify it as a 'sea' because it's not that huge. But I just called it how I like it.
