The dragon bond

(Same night but really late)

Hiccups P.O.V

I walked back to the village to drop all of the trainees off, they were still pumped as we are going to bond with a dragon soon. I walked by Drakes house and decided to knock on his door and see if he is ok. Mrs Scorch opened the door with a smile.

"Ummm, is Drake here?" Her smile suddenly turned to a worried face.

"I assumed he was with you chief?" She said with a troubled look.

"No I'm sorry, I haven't seen him all day" I answered looking almost as concerned as his mother did.

"No he went out, I thought it was to see you, but hasn't yet returned" she said. "I know your busy and all being chief, but do you think you can bring him home?" She asked almost pleading.

"Well as my father always used to say, no problem is to small" I said walking away. I miss my dad, he hasn't been here for almost a year now, I think of him now and then, but I know he will always be with me.

I looked at Toothless who was chasing a reflection on the ground, he still loves that game. "Come on boy!" I said, his head jerked up and he ran over to me, I jumped on his back and clicked my prosthetic leg into place, he took a few strides then he jumped into the air spreading his wings. It was dark and the village looked amazing, from day yeah it's ok, but at night, just wow. The village was covered in torches and lava pedestals and more lights, so it looked like well snoggletog! We flew for a moment and I took my helmet off, the cool winter breeze was blowing in my face. We targeted our landing point and swooped down. I walked past the twins house and Barf and Belch were outside, I walked towards them and let them sniff my hand I scratched on head for a few seconds then the next head so it wasn't unfair. I glanced up to see the twins on the roof watching the stars.

"Hey guys, is there any chance you have seen Drake?" I asked politely.

"Yeah" they said not saying any further information.

"Where Is he?" I said.

"Mini Hiccup went into the Hatchery" Tuff stated. I was about to continue my journey but stopped.

"Excuse me?" Did I just hear that right or am I going complete bonkers.

"Mini Hiccup" repeated Ruff.

"Who is that?" I said.

"Drake" they both said as if nothing had happened.

"Ok?" I said, running towards the hatchery with Toothless running effortlessly beside me. I walked through the doors and nodded to Gobber, he's obviously on night duty. I walked silently through the iron gates towards the eggs, I saw a small silhouette, I quickly realised it was Drake and stood behind him, he still hadn't noticed I was here.

"What do you think your doing?" I said trying out my stern voice. He jerked his head around quite surprised.

"S...s...s...sorry chief" he blurted out. I sat beside him looking at the egg in front of him, rumble horn.

"It's ok, so this is the breed you want is it?" I asked.

" yes sir" he said staring at me then at Toothless, I nodded at him and he walked over to the black dragon who was almost hidden in the shadows. He stepped towards him cautiously with his hand in front of him, Toothless sniffed it then nudged it. Drake scratched Toothless on his head and Bud went beneath him and got him on his back. I chuckled and Drake looked at me smiling.

"What egg do you like the most" I said. He got down off of Toothless and walked over to me. He tapped an egg slightly, it was green fading into red.

"When I touch it, it makes me feel fuzzy inside, I can feel it pulling me in" he said. I lifted the egg it was really heavy, and placed it on the floor we both sat down and studied it.

"He is yours" I said gesturing to the egg, his eyes widened in amazement he walked around the egg being careful not to knock it and gave me a massive hug.

"Thanks" I said. "The eggs almost at its hatching point it should be hatching this time tomorrow" I stated. "Every single one of these eggs are bonded with a rider who doesn't even know it. And your buddy is this one" I said smiling. I lifted the egg and walked over to a stone stable with specially designed saddle bags designed to carry one egg at a time, I chose a Strong one built for Rumble horns and lifted the egg into it. I then walked over to Toothless, Drake was following me, and attached it to his saddle making sure it was secure. I lifted Drake into the saddle and I got up behind him.

"Want to fly home?" I said.

"Yes please!" He shouted. I knew Gobber didn't know Drake was inside so we flew up to a wall with a lever on it, I pulled it down and the roof opened. We flew out and the roof closed behind us. I took Drake home and told his parents to keep the egg on a lava pedestal. I flew back down to my work shop, and thought I have a long night ahead of me.
