A party, a big fucking party is what we found when we arrived at Gryffindor common room. "Did I forget to mention the parties we have when we win," Sirius said, dropping me on one of the sofas in the middle of the very loud, happy red and gold common room.

Sirius disappeared out of my sight, into the crowd of buzzed students who were lucky there was no school tomorrow. I jumped up off of the sofa and decided it was time for my first ever drink. I walked over to a table filled with warm food and chilled drink and picked up a bottle, labeled 'fire whisky'. I poured myself a glass, adding two ice cubes.

The drink burned my throat like a freshly sparked fire, but it tasted like caramel right before it burned, I loved it. I finished my first drink and quickly moved onto my second as I began to wonder through the common room, music booming. I found Lily Evans as she danced without a care in the world, her vibrant red filled with life.

I spent the next two hours or so slowly drinking 3 glasses of firewhiskey and two pints of Butterbeer. By the time the spin the bottle circle popped up, I was drunk enough that I was willing to play, I wanted to get my second first out of the way today.

It was fun watching people, you know, get flustered or suddenly very confident over having to kiss someone, scratch that it was bloody hilarious watching them shuffle to a slowly growing circle; but before I knew it, it was my turn to spin the bottle that I had earlier helped empty.

The bloody thing went around and around, I didn't have a specific hazel eyed person in mind for it to land on. When the bottle began to slow down, person by person it moved around the circle slower. Kingsley Shacklebolt, no. Fabian Prewet, no. Otto Bagman, no. Alice Forttescue, no. Frank Longbottom, no. James Potter, yes.

I stood up and made my way towards him. When we reached each other, my stomach flipped from nerves; my brother's best friend, who admitted he loved the girl I called my best friend, what a brilliant person to have my first kiss with. He put his hand on my face and pulled it closer to his, his other hand remaining at his side.

The way he leant into the kiss, I thought he was going to lightly brush his lips on mine and step away, but he didn't. That kiss was the first time after my first glass of fire whiskey that I felt something clearly. I stepped away from the boy and the guilt hit me like a runaway broomstick. I quickly left the circle.

Someone grabbed my shoulder, my brother clearly drunk. "You can't have him," he said, his voice wobbling, I didn't know whether it was from great sadness or drunkenness. "Sirius don't say anything, you are clearly drunk. And drunken words won't do anything good,"

"You can't have him. We can share friends, but James is my best friend. My best friend who has known me longer than I knew you existed," he said, I nodded and walked away.

I found a bottle of fire whiskey and I took it with me back to my room. Louis jumped to attention when he heard my sob, I had tried to muffle with my hand.

I lay in bed, I liked James Potter, but not enough to cry myself to sleep. My emotional damn had finally broken, everything surrounded me and I felt as if I was drowning. A dead mother, and two brothers who both refused to let me in. Louis nestled his head against mine, trying to comfort me.

Sirius Black was more of an arrogant toe rag than James potter ever was, Black was an arse. I stormed up the stairs to my dorm, the effect of drinking had worn off the moment I saw my friend runaway. I didn't think to knock as I walked inside, but when I saw Iris curled up on her bed crying her eyes out, I wish I did.

"Ris, by merlin Ris." I said, laying down beside her and putting my arms around her. Her tears wet my mustard yellow jumper, her hands wrapping around my waist.  We could hear the music of the party continuing below, but we ignored it. She didn't stop crying until she finally fell asleep and I didn't leave her side the entire night.

At 9 o'clock a very confused, puffy eyed Iris woke up in somebody else's arms and immediately turned around worried. I was reading little women, the book I always kept on my bedside. "Good morning, babe did you get your beauty sleep" I asked pulling my nose out of the book and putting on a funny accent, trying to cheer up my friend.

I smiled weakly at her. Lily got up and forced me to get ready with her, even though all I wanted to do was hide in my bed. I used magic to straighten my hair, and put on make-up to hide my imperfections. I knew I looked good when I walked out of my dorm, arm in arm with Lily. Marlene and Dorcas remained in bed.

When we got into the common room, there were at least 20 passed out students and the floor was littered with rubbish, what a sight for the first and second years. When I didn't see any of the marauders on my journey to the great hall, I let out a sigh of relief.

"Ris, I'm sure he didn't mean," Lily said, when I moved to get up as soon as I saw the marauders walk in.

"Lils, what he said was stupid, childlike, possesive and completely unescissary but it was true. Potter has known him longer, he has been there for Sirius more times than I have and it's not like I'm in love with James potter," I said quickly, finishing my little speech. "I'm going to sit by that big lake, have a great day Lils,"

I went to my dorm, grabbed a good book that I had been waiting to read, a pack of cauldron cakes and switched my shoes out for a more comfortable pair. It was 4 in the afternoon before anyone found me sitting by the lake.

I didn't turn my head, when someone sat down beside me. "How are you?" I turned immediately when I heard Regulus' voice. "Not great Reg, but that's not important. How are you, what have you been up to," I said closing the book and giving the boy my full attention. Reg suddenly looked a little hesitant to speak, I looked around at the passing older Slytherins. Evan Rosier waved at us, I rolled my eyes at the boy which only made him smirk.

I let out a sigh ignoring the boy and looking back at Reg, "Don't worry, please just tell me how you've been,"

"I've been okay, father sends his disappointment,"

"Reg, I know we haven't known each other very long. But now for better or worse I'm your sister and I'm going  to be there for you. Disappointment or not,"

Regulus looked at me, his eyes filled with something I couldn't make out. That awful mix of emotions between choosing to trust me and a hatred not entirely directed at me. Suddenly something clicked and I wasn't going to try and assume what as Regulus began to cuff his sleeve.

His arm had small round scars. They were light brown dents in his perfect porcelain arm. I didn't try and touch Reg, suddenly worried touching him would reveal more little wounds. "This is what they do to their children," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. I didn't know what to say as my lip bobbed.

"Clemente manner," I said quickly, soon adding context to my sudden words. "I'm fifteen Reg, and in two years I will have access to my family purstrings. I can take you and Sirius away,"

"You don't get it, I can't leave,"

"Why Reg, what makes you want to stay with people who hurt you?"

"Iris you don't understand. I don't want to be burned off my family tree. Never spoken of again."

"Then I'll stay with you, protect you," I said reaching my hand out, brushing my palm along the grass blades before taking Regs hand and squeezing it.

"allez, allons dîner (come on let's head to dinner)," I tell Regulus, after sitting with him silently for hours.

As soon as we reached the great hall, Reg and I parted ways. My father was an awful man and I'm going to make him regret his actions. I didn't care how many hours I would have to use studying, but he needed to take responsibility for his actions.
