“We can’t go back to Gryffindor together,” I explained

“Then stay here with me,” James replied, his arms moving around my waist.

“I’ll go to the library and you go back to your dorm,” I said rubbing my eyes and stepping away from the boy.

“I brought you here, I’ll stay here you go back to your dorm with the invisibility cape,”

“Ok, night,” I Picked up the blanket, and walked back to Gryffindor.

I walked into my dorm, none of the lights were on so I thought that the girls were asleep but as soon as the door clicked shut, all the lights were on. Marlene was on her bed smiling like an evil mastermind, Dorcas looked like a disappointed mother and Lily, Lily obviously put this wait up together.

“That note was bullshit, where were you?” Marlene said loudly.

“When Potter went off to flirt with some girl; I wanted to look around the school,” I smiled

“Really?” Dorcas asked unsure

“I didn’t screw anyone if that’s what you're insinuating,” I said walking to my bed.

“Oh yes the virginal Iris Black,” Marlene said, curling up under the covers.

“You were just reading in the library weren’t you,” Lily said smiling at me and rolling her eyes at me.

I took that as my opportunity to get to bed and nodded, Marlene let out a groan that she had stayed for no reason, before she yelled goodnight. All of us chiming in one after another, repeating it before the lights were back out. I did my usual night time routine before slipping into bed, pulling Louis close to my chest before I fell asleep. Louis wasn’t happy that I had pulled him close but he soon settled, as I shut my eyes and fell into a light sleep.

I was running down a hall with spells being flung at me, I was screaming at the top of my lungs for help. The current corridor I was running down was free, but as I followed the path and turned Walburga was standing in the hall. I patted my body down for a wand, I didn’t have it and suddenly Walburga screamed Crucio at me.

I felt that sickening pain again, the pain Merlin the cold, the burns, the cuts repeatedly over and over again. I wanted it to stop. I needed it to stop, suddenly I felt someone trying to dig into my memories like Voldemort did. I shut him out, whatever he wanted to do I wouldn’t let him.

Someone was shaking me, it was all a dream. I opened my eyes and looked up at Lily Evans with a worried look on her face. “Iris are you okay, you were whimpering and crying and then you started repeating l'homme qui apporte les ténèbres under your breath (the man who brings darkness)” I tried not to let anymore tears slip out. Lily sat down beside me, I hugged the girl, she returned it quickly.

“Lils, I’m fine you can go back to your bed,”
“You sure Ris, you look like death,”

“I’m fine Lily, go back to sleep,”

“What if I don’t feel good, can I stay in your bed,” she said elbowing me lightly, she didn’t trust I was alright and I was glad Lily was so intuitive.

“Yeah sure Lils,” I said shuffling over and opening the covers to her.

It took a lot longer for me to fall asleep, but soon my heart rate slowed and I once again fell asleep.

I woke up next Lily Evans, with Louis splayed across her chest. I flicked Lily in the head until she woke up, “Do you want to go to breakfast,” I asked the girl who had been awake for less than five seconds. “Piss off,” Lils said waving her hand in my face like she was trying to find an off button.
