Back at the attic; we were too excited to even move.
"Wait!", I say, "what if this is all a dream?"
"I doubt that". Sophie said. "It's all too real to be a dream."
"What is the time?"
"Good question. How long have we been in there? It's supposed to be night time here"
"Well look up", I pointed to the high window and it was as bright as when we left.
"I think it's best if we go and meet Miss Paige...tell her we're back from her mystery world of magic"
"How long have you been waiting to say that one?" I chuckled.
"As long as ever. Come on let's go"
I wonder what Miss Paige will say about all these? Is this what they do to solve problems? use the mirror and poof! problem solved. It's all too real to be a dream. I doubt anyone will ever believe us of we tell them about this. Wait, we won't even try to tell anyone. Miss Paige said this is a secret. Ugh! why does the best things always have to be kept a secret.
"Hey girls", Miss Paige got up from the chair she was sitting on and came over to hug us. "Hmm, thirty minutes, it usually takes ten to fifteen minutes". She said checking her wrist watch.
"No way", Sophie said, "we've been in there for just thirty minutes?"
"Or is it twenty...?"
"What the..."
"It can't be", I say equally amazed and shocked as Sophie is. "We were there for close to five hours or more that I am sure about."
"Well girls", Miss Paige said, "time is a bit different inside the magic mirror. It's ten times or should I say hundred times slower than time here."
"Okay", I say, "too many surprises".
"Right. Says the girl who said she wouldn't be surprised if a cow just falls from the sky". Sophie smirked.
"This is worse than it. Seriously, how is that even possible?"
"At least, being in there has made you speak out now a lot," Miss Paige said.
Oh! That brought a silence among us.
"You should've seen Becky...", Becky began to tell everything that happened from beginning to end, from top to bottom not leaving a single detail out.
Miss Paige did make a point with the statement she made. I didn't even notice it before, but I have become more outspoken than before. More braver and confident. It's a new difference and I love it.
"That's amazing. It actually worked"
"What worked?" I ask Miss Paige
"I planned it all out. You meeting with Jason, Farren, Suzy and others. You singing there. Sophie helping you out and also the magic in you".
"Are you serious?" Sophie asked. "You planned it?"
"Yes. You can organise what you want to happen in the mirror. If it's necessary. And a few of the people you know, you'll end up meeting them there. Just different names and faces. But you'll definitely know and feel connected. Be it someone you hate or love"
"Wow". Sophie gawked.
"So Becky, tell me all about it. How was it like experiencing yourself breaking all limitations, 'cause you know it doesn't just apply to only singing; it is breaking out from every other problems that you've found it hard to".
"It was quite an adventure Miss Paige. It was really a breaking free experience".
"I'm glad to hear that. Really.
"I couldn't have done it without you", I hugged her. "Thank you".
"You're most welcome. You two are free to use the magic mirror anytime any day. Just pick an outfit and hold hands". She winked at us.
"Yeah right", Sophie said, "thanks for telling us after we've solved everything on our own."
Miss Paige laughed. "That's what teamwork and friendship is all about. And the more you use the mirror, the more puzzles you'll find to piece together".
"I'm gonna wear a princess dress and rule a kingdom". Sophie said already daydreaming. "You do have a princess dress right?"
This made us all laugh. Such a crazy bestfriend I've got.Feeling better than ever, I went home after saying goodbye to Sophie who was excited to share everything with her brother until I pleaded with her not to. I walked back home alone the rest of the way thinking about all that has happened, wondering if it's all a dream or not.
I'm just glad with the new change in me. I can't wait to show the world what I've got. I have ceased to let fear control me. I've found courage; cause courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. I know I'm braver than I think and I'll always be. Just like Helen Keller said: 'never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye. ' well said Helen, well said! I'mma look Britney and all haters in the eye.I got lost in my thoughts I hadn't even realised when I reached my home.
"Mom, Chloe...I'm home", I sing song knowing they'd both be home by this time. Hmm, no response. Chloe would've given me a snarky reply or mom would've come giving me a hug.
"Mom...?" I called out again going to the kitchen. And that's when I saw... "Dad?"
