July 2016 — The Olympics
Brazil had ultimately taken gold making the crowd go wild. The players off court ran to their teammates and tackled them in one giant bear hug. Confetti fell like snow all over the stadium as Brazil had won gold while playing at their home. Michiko was ecstatic with the win, but being the strategist she is, she had been busy jotting final notes.
But Nicolas Romero, Brazil's ace, and Bruno Rezende, her cousin and Brazil's setter, grabbed the small woman and hoisted her up above the team loudly cheering. The men around shouted and hooted, but Michiko wasn't one to want all the attention, so she hid her face as she grinned.
"Matsu, Matsu, Matsu," They all chanted and soon the crowd followed.
"Stop! Stop!" She laughed, "Put me down Bruno! Nicolas!"
The two men put her down on the floor but raised both her arms up like she was the champion. Everyone cheered even more.
"If it weren't for your help, we would have struggled Matsu Matsu," Romero commented.
"I guess so," she bashfully turned away.
The team was being interviewed just before the award ceremony. The reporter then turned to Michiko and the camera followed making her appear on the giant screens in the stadium.
"You played a large role in helping Brazil take the gold. How are you feeling now?" The reporter asked.
"It feels wonderful to know that my team actually listened to me," she jokingly replied making everyone laugh in the stadium.
"Is there anyone you want to thank, or anything else you want to say? Friends, family, a significant other?"
Michiko grasped the mic before switching to Japanese with a wide grin and looked into the camera, "I just want to say that I love Sakusa Kiyoomi."
"Could you say that in Portuguese please?"
"I said that I love Sakusa Kiyoomi," Michiko smiled, "Um I have to go get my boys now."
The reporter thanked the young woman and moved to interview the other players. Her grandmother came to watch Brazil play, and she had offered to watch Satoshi and Hacchin. Her grandmother walked onto the court with the two boys hand in hand. The twins ran to their mother and tackled her into a hug.
"Ball go woosh!" Satoshi said as he waved his arms around.
"Ball go boom!" Hacchin threw his arm down like he was hitting a volleyball.
Michiko laughed at how her boys reacted. They spent a lot of time with Hinata, and they picked up a few of his antics like using onomatopoeia words to describe things. They ran to their Romero and jumped up and down. Michiko had brought the boys whenever the team would practice, so they became accustomed with the volleyball players.
