Wake up...

Wake up...

Wake up...

Maybe she was dreaming, but those words constantly swam through her consciousness. They came in different voices, different tones. Sometimes the words sounded lighthearted, as if someone was attempting to gently wake her up from a long nap. Most of the time, the words sounded like a cry for help, like desperate whispers when one is on the verge of giving up.

But there was one voice that seemed different in particular. It seemed monotonous and blunt, but if you listened closely there was a subtle urge in its tone for her to wake up. And Michiko wanted to, she so badly wanted to wake from her dream of eternal darkness. She couldn't see anything, but every time she heard that voice, she ran in the dark in hopes to find it.

That voice. For some reason she felt like it was pulling her towards it, or rather she felt compelled to go to it. But even with the repeated steps taken forward, backwards, or to the sides, she could never truly reach the voice. Was she dead?

Wake up...

Wake up...

Wake up... please...

She really wanted to wake up. Michiko felt as desperate as the voice sounded. However, she felt stuck and that discouraged her. There were moments of hopelessness, and Michiko would stop taking any steps further and just let herself float in nothingness.

Maybe she was dead. How did I get here though? She asked herself. If this was what the afterlife is like, then this is just depressing and boring as shit. There was no way she was staying here. She couldn't just leave... Satoshi and Hacchin.

As soon as that thought passed, a sudden dim light slowly crept towards her. She couldn't move though, but despite that, the light was getting closer and closer, brighter and brighter.

Wake up... Mama...

Mama... Don't leave us...

She wouldn't leave, she couldn't leave. Something was touching her hands. This never happened in all her time being in the dark. It felt so... real. The light became blinding at this point, Michiko was confused as to what was happening.

She blinked a couple times attempting to adjust to the light, and her vision soon became clear. The first thing Michiko saw was a white ceiling. Her eyebrows scrunched in confusion, where was she?

The gentle touches never left her hand prompting Michiko to lift her head. But it felt like a ton of bricks weigh down on her. She couldn't move any part of her body. Her hands twitched and she felt something shuffle on each of her sides.

Two heads of wavy, black hair came into view. Michiko looked back and forth between the two little strangers that stood at her sides. It was like she was seeing double, causing her to blink a few times to make sure she wasn't delusional.
