We promised to not forget each other.
That's all Michiko could think of as she chopped vegetables. The twins and Sakusa camped out in the living room of her apartment. She could hear the little giggles from the two boys over the sound of sizzling oil in the frying pan that cooked up fish.
Her chopping stopped as she glanced down at her ring. She sighed loudly as she picked up the cutting board and slid the vegetables into a pot of boiling water.
That promise was thoroughly broken. Michiko knew it wasn't her fault at all, but guilt still flowed through her mind as she felt her chest ache. He seemed more sad than upset though, she reasoned. But that didn't make her feel any better.
She tried to shake the feeling off as she plated the food and set it on the table. Michiko walked towards the entrance of the kitchen to let the boys and Sakusa know that dinner was ready. Damn, I'm really having dinner with a hot volleyball player.
What the small woman found was both hilarious and adorable. Sakusa and the twins were sat around the coffee table in the living room as they held up their own cards.
"You got any threes?" Sakusa asked as he playfully narrowed his eyes at Hacchin.
"Go fish," Hacchin answered.
This made Satoshi smirk as Sakusa went to pick a card from the deck, "Daddy, do you got any threes?"
Sakusa paused and his jaw slightly dropped and had a look like he was just betrayed, "You two are sneaky."
Satoshi and Hacchin giggled at their father's reaction as Sakusa handed out his card. It made Michiko laugh making the three turn their heads. The twins' faces lit up.
"Is dinner ready Mama?" Satoshi excitedly asked.
Michiko nodded with a smile. The two boys dropped their cards, hopped up, and ran into the kitchen as they cheered. Sakusa stood up as his eyes trailed up to the small woman who lightly leaned on the frame of the entrance to the kitchen in front of him.
"Could you help the boys with making their plates?" Michiko asked, "I uh, need to change into something that's comfier."
"Of course," Sakusa replied with a small smile.
Sakusa was left with Satoshi and Hacchin climbing onto the kitchen counter trying to grab their own plates.
"Are you two supposed to be climbing on the counter like that?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
The twins briefly froze before turning back to look at Sakusa with sheepish smiles. Sakusa shook his head with a small smile as he gently grabbed Satoshi and Hacchin and set them back on the ground.
"Mama told me if you two climb on the counters, you won't get any Umeboshi," he said with a blank face.
Their eyes widened and they had horrified expressions on their faces, "Really?"
