"Modoru Convenient Store..." Michiko read aloud the neon sign as she and the boys approached the store.
"You and Daddy used to go here together all the time!" Hacchin said.
As they entered, Michiko felt an instant sensation of nostalgia. The boys had on their little backpacks and had a small bounce in each of their steps.
"We met Daddy here," Satoshi informed.
"And when did this happened?" Michiko inquired, wanting to know more.
"The first time was when Hacchi fell and Daddy gave us hand sani," Satoshi said casually.
"And guess what?!" Hacchin asked excitedly.
"What?" Michiko playfully gasped.
"He uses Curell!" The boys gushed.
"But Daddy was wearing a hat and a mask, so we didn't re-rec-recognize him," Satoshi added.
"Oh, so when did you two find out he was your Daddy?" Michiko asked as the three walked into the snack aisle.
"It was the second time," Satoshi answered.
"This time, Daddy wasn't wearing a hat, so we could see his curly hair and those things on his forehead. He has them just like us," Hacchin grinned.
Michiko chuckled at their cuteness. They really adored their father. It made Michiko want to try even harder to gain back her memories so that things wouldn't have to be so... unsteady, is what she'll go with. It was like there was no full security with their relationship yet, so Michiko felt like she was kind of floating around and had no place to ground herself.
"You got your snacks?" Michiko asked.
Satoshi and Hacchin nodded with wide grins. They placed little bags of food in the basket she carried.
"Ok, good," Michiko smiled back, "we need to get more ingredients so that I can make more Umeboshi."
The boys' eyes sparkled once they heard the name of their favorite food. They walked to the produce section and filled a bag with plums. Satoshi and Hacchin made sure to examine each and every plum so that they were in good condition. The trio headed to the aisle with the red shiso leaves.
"The red leaves are up really high Mama," Hacchin warned.
"Oh, that's going to be a bit of a challenge then," Michiko lightly groaned as she thought about her height.
"We should call Daddy," Satoshi suggested.
Hacchin nodded, "Yeah, he can get the red leaves because he's super tall."
"But I... don't have his number," Michiko said sheepishly.
The boys looked at her like she grew a second head.
