Grazing the knife,
Out of your mind;
No longer you,
The thoughts that consume.
Smiles on the wall,
Mornings you recall;
Warm summer nights,
Dancing in light.
Book on your desk,
Emotions a mess;
Laughter downstairs,
Their voices unfair.
Breath falling short,
Head on the floor;
Ashamed and angry,
Desperate and fading.
Downhill spiraling,
Only one who's counting;
The words you keep writing,
If only they saw the irony.
Regret could kill you,
Memories that bruised you;
And the blood's in your eyes,
Running red like water of life.
The burdens they shout,
While you're calling for help;
Silence stopping you heart,
Beat by beat on the clock.
All the things you could say,
All the hours you've prayed;
Screaming and crying,
Your soul slowly dying.
One a.m. shadows shroud,
They sleep in peace while you toss;
Chained to the role of these years,
You can no longer adhere.
If you could, should you purge?How innocent those eyes were;
Either way the dawn is too late,
Rather suffer than change.
In a fraction it cuts,
But the scars will live on;
Starred over everyday,
Perfection of your facade.
So you're brave, so you're strong,
The strength carries your shards;
Beauty formed, the brain sparked,
By these fragments they've lost-
What they don't know,
What you don't show;
The secret you wield,
Diverting that steel.
Tape sealed wounds,
Bedazzled in jewels;
You may stand alone,
But you could speak for the world.
Never displayed,
A reward just the same;
The life you've concealed,
One day they'll see it revealed.
Withdrawing your fingers,
Upon that blade linger;
Now a choice you have made-
Forever only to graze.{}~{}~{}~{}~{}~{}~{}~{}~{}~{}~{}
A bit longer than usual, I suppose, and maybe slightly different than the majority of poems in this book, but that's ok, right? I think that makes it even more beautiful :)
I'm still open to requests and suggestions as well, so leave comments on something you'd like me to write about. I'd love to hear your stories of dreams and perseverance, so shoot me a PM, alright? <3 Love you all <3
