She's not like other girls,

She's not like other girls,

In the way she sees the world;

She's an outcast, she don't care,

That's never gotten her anywhere.

There's nothing for her to say,

They don't watch when she breaks;

She knows she's too strong to scream,

She'll never fall to her knees.

But she opens that drawer,

Then she slowly shuts the door;

She sits alone in the dark,

Just her, her pen, and her thoughts.

Words flow to her fingers,

Heartbeat steady and even;

Another secret don't faze her,

Those same ones that made her.

She knows she does what she must,

Though she loves them with all her heart;

If they read, they may just understand,

That she never sought to hurt them.

She's reaching for the stars,

This the only way she knows how;

She'll bear the pain and the scorn,

Believing they'll soon see it like her.

She knows she's still learning,

She loses sight on the journey;

So she keeps coming back,

To the pen where it all began.

Not one page, not a phrase,

She couldn't trace to the day;

But she's not the girl she once was,

Doubtful they'll ever see the scars.

Clouds billow in her sky,

Somedays the sun hides;

Won't cower from the gray,

Oh how she loves the rain!

From a soul to a goal,

She feels like she's traveled the earth;

She writes a message, a song,

She knows some will sing along.

She's not like other girls,

Not in the way she sees the world;

She's an outcast, but oh, she don't care,

She's going somewhere.

She does have something to say,

Though they won't see her break;

She's too strong to scream-

So she'll write poetry.

Anyone think they can guess who "she" is? Probably not that hard :)

Happy International Poetry Day, my flowers! To all those poets and poetesses, remember that you have just as much power (if not more) than other writers, even though we hardly get the respect, opportunity, and support that we deserve. Let's use our poetry to change lives, hearts, stories, and this world! Write your hearts, guys, and you will be amazed by what you can do <3

I love poetry. I love writing it, I love reading it, and I love interpreting it! And I'm going to do something special for National Poetry Month next month, so wait and see ;)

Love you all <3 Please reach out if you want to chat! I'd love to get to know you guys <3
