Adventures so bold,
With too much at stake;
And God only knows,
The time that's been prayed.
This world builds up hope,
Then tears it all down;
So that the story that's wrote,
Is not worthy to be found.
Like a fate that lingers,
Looming on the horizon;
Plumes of smoke from its fingers,
Create the clouds uninvited.
Billows that cast shadows,
They wipe out the light;
Nothing even to battle,
Days are now nights.
So flies a feeling so pure,
The most raw emotion;
How hard it is to endure,
Every thought is now stolen.
It's the darkness, the storm,
The beast, the wind, the waves;
Death, pain, loss, change, it's sworn,
By every failure of the human race.
A question and an answer,
Fueled by scars, woven in doubt;
Turns a second to forever,
Seems no courage could ev'r amount.
When tomorrow seems no blessing,
When joy cannot be obtained;
The brutal reign no longer forthcoming,
It locked its foothold in the pain.
All that's concealed it uncovers,
To manipulate from the dark;
Lie and truth blend in color,
And it tears a soul apart.
What is there to fear
But fear itself?
If it should disappear,
Hurt may hardly be felt.
But what is courage, in fact?
A fearful bravery;
The courageous understand,
That fear is their heartbeat.
To fight for love,
One must fear to lose;
With an undesired outcome,
There's power in pulling through.
The brave are afraid,
They're brave for something;
The afraid can be brave,
They are all they need.
The unafraid are the weak,
Fear makes hearts strong;
It takes courage to keep
Hopes on what could be lost.
Courage is a bold choice,
To put purpose over cost;
Break the chains, block the noise,
Fight stronger than you've fought.
So bring on the world,
Cause fear is no fear;
Flowers, beneath the fog's blur—
Fear's a reflection in the mirror.

A bit of a flashback to "Dear Hurting, From Healing", my first poetry book, if any of you may remember it :) The style of this poem is very similar, problem and solution format, in a way. I hope you feel inspired now to remember that fear can be our ally. It makes us strong as it reminds us that there is something worth fighting for <3
I didn't think I'd manage to pull out a poem this week, to be honest. I've been struggling with a lot of things lately, fear being one of them. Not temporary, physical fears, like spiders or the dark... although, sometimes I struggle with those too ;)... but deep, mental fears. Failure, rejection, worthlessness, hopelessness, loneliness...
These feelings were actually what pushed me to finally publish my new poetry book "So This is Life", as it's a much darker book comparatively. And go check it out BTW!
I don't want to get too deep into anything here, but... I wanted to let you know that writing has been a bit more of a struggle for me than typical.
Love you all <3
