“Uggghhhhh!” I groaned loudly throwing my head back onto Ashton’s bare chest. “What is it now?” I asked without him even having to say anything. I had spent the night at his apartment and when we woke up I convinced him to call in sick so we could have a lazy day.
“What?! I didn’t say anything.” Ashton said dropping his head to kiss my shoulder. He didn’t need to say anything, that was the point. He just reeked of nervousness and that was beginning to give me anxiety.
“I can smell it Ashton. Just ask what you wanna ask.”
“I have nothing to ask.” Ashton mumbled against my skin. He was trying to distract me but he didn’t know that in the short span of our relationship; I grew to know him as well as I knew myself, if not better. Ashton was like an open book and there was nothing he did that managed to get past me.
“Ashton.” I said again pulling away from him. I turned around to look at him and tucked my legs under me. “Start talking.”
“My lease is gonna be up next month.” Ashton said taking my hand in his and playing with my fingers.
“Okay?” I said in a confused tone. I had no idea where he was going with this.
“When is yours gonna be up?”
“Uh...” I said looking up trying to remember exactly when my lease was going to be up. “In November. The ah... 30th to be exact.”
“Oh. What are you going to do when it’s up?”
“Uh, renew it.” I said like it was the simplest thing in the word; because it was.
“I was thinking...”
“Oh God.” I said laughing a little and Ashton glared at me. He swallowed again and I could tell that he was nervous and that was when I started to take him seriously. “Ash? What?-”
“I was thinking.... since mine is gonna be up in a month and yours is gonna be up in two; instead of us renewing our leases could just get a newer, better and bigger apartment... together.”
“You want to... y-you want to live together?” I asked making sure I wasn’t dreaming.
“Yeah.” He said with a shrug. “I mean; we’ve been together long enough and I think we’re there. Half of my clothes are at your apartment and half of yours are here. So I was thinking... why not have them in the same place. I mean, that would be easier.” He said and I just stared at him. He really caught me off guard. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to live with him; I just never really thought about it. I never lived with someone since I moved out of my parent’s house. People and I never really coexisted for too long and having someone live with me was going to trigger my ocd way too much for my comfort.
“I mean; it was just a suggestion.” He said hurriedly when I didn’t respond. “We don’t have to move it together. I was just thinking it would be easier; we always sleep at someone’s apartment during the week so why not have one place? If you think it’s too soon; it’s cool. We don’t even have to get a super big apartment either. I mean, if you’re worried about the money. I have a lot saved up... I don’t really buy stuff plus I get a lot of tips from old ladies at the book store. It was just a thought. You don’t ha-”
“That’s actually not a bad idea.” I said when I actually thought about it. I really loved what I had with Ashton and I had to admit I was a bit tired with the back and forth between apartments and getting one together would save both of us a bunch of money. I would have to learn to adjust to living with someone else but it was Ashton, he was pretty easy to get along with.
“What are you gonna do after next month?” I asked when I realized that his lease would be up before mine. There was no way he was getting me to get out of a lease one month before it was up.
“I dunno.” He shrugged putting his hand behind his head and dropping himself on the pillow. “I’ll probably go crash at Michael’s for the month. When do you wanna go apartment shopping?”
“Why not stay at my apartment?” I asked and he raised his eyebrows, begging me to go on. “I mean, it’s easier and think of it as practise for when we actually move in together.” I reasoned with him.
“Then it’s settled then?” He asked and I nodded. We started at each other for a few moments; both of us seriously thinking about the step we were about to make together.
“We’re moving in together.” I whispered beaming at him. I was nervous about it but the more I thought about it; the happier it made me.
“Hell yeah.” Ashton smiled pulling my arm and crashing his lips against mine.
