I huffed as I tried to pull down the dress I had on. I hated these types of dresses in the first place; the skin tight ones that hugged every single curve of your body. The girl that assisted me in the store yesterday said the caramel coloured dress would be perfect for my skin tone and when I tried it on she got more excited than I was. The straps on the back of the dress were white and they criss-crossed; leaving half my back exposed.
I still didn’t know why I said yes to this date with Ashton and I don’t know why I didn’t back out when I found out it would be one this fancy.
I took a seat at my desk and applied some makeup; all the while trying to come up with excuses to get out of the date. I hope Ashton didn’t expect me to order a salad... or a soup. I was not one of the girls that opted for a salad. I ate like a real person and I knew I’d have to take it down a notch tonight because the dress was tight and if I had too much my midsection would not be as pretty anymore.
A knock on my door startled me and I pushed my foot into my heels and headed out of my room. I took a deep breath before opening the door. Ashton was on the other side looking down at his shoes and kicking the ground. When he heard the door open his head snapped up and his eyes widened as they scanned my body. He didn’t even try to be subtle with his reaction and I started to regret giving that sale’s girl a tip even less. He reached up to scratch the back of his neck and he cleared his throat.
“Uh...” He started before clearing his throat again. I smirked and pulled my hair over my right shoulder. I still hadn’t cut it yet and I really needed to. I hated when my hair got too long because it made me feel way too hot. “Um. Y-you look really nice.” He mumbled and I didn’t even understand him.
“What is that?” I asked; partially because I wanted to hear him say it again. I stared at him and tried to understand what was going on with his hair. Usually there was a bandana tied around his head to keep the hair out of his eyes... at least I assumed that was the purpose of it. But tonight it was... I don’t really know. It looked like he tried to straighten it but decided not to half way. So his hair was semi straight and semi curly. He managed to get it all up in some sort of quiff on the top of his head but the way it fell, I knew something had gone wrong. The hairstyle looked horrible but at the same time, it looked pretty awesome and this only confused me even more.
“You look really p-pretty.” He said again, looking me in the eyes this time. He smiled and I returned it, noticing what he had on for the first time. It was a pleasant change from the band t-shirts and jeans I usually saw him in.
He was in a pair of black skinny jeans that wasn’t slit at the knees as per normal. This actually caught me off guard because I could’ve sworn all the jeans he had were ripped. There was something about the jeans he had on that made his thighs and calves look better than mine.
His shirt was a greenish gray colour and it had some sort of sheen to it. It fit him really well; I noticed that much. The buttons on the shirt were mix matched and I wanted to ask him if it came that way or he adjusted it.
His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and the contrast between the shirt and his complexion made it work in a way that was making my palms sweat. I was never one for guys who did that with their sleeves but Mr. Irwin was pulling the look off. It didn’t help that the shirt was a fitted one. I mean; it was really tight. It was so tight that I saw the outline of his stomach which happened to be very, very toned.
The only thing I hated about the shirt was the two giant pockets on the front of it. Like, with the way Ashton was looking in the shirt; I really just wanted to rip those stupid pockets off which had almost become like an eye sore. I had nothing against pockets but with the way the shirt hugged his body; I was looking forward to staring at his nipples during dinner. All in all, the elegant look was working in Ashton’s favour.
