"How about these?" Ashton beamed holding up some cushions that had Christmas trees sewed into them. I cringed and shook my head. We were last minute shopping for the apartment and Ashton was bent on insisting we get some Christmas themed stuff.
I was pretty excited to move into the new apartment. It was huge and I was surprised to find out that with the money I made and the money Ashton saved we were able to comfortably able to pay for the first few months. When Ashton said he had money saved, he really meant he had money saved but I guess with the life he led before we got together he didn't really need to spend too much money.
"We are not getting Christmas cushions!" I said taking them from him and putting them back down. I started walking away and I heard his feet stomping behind me.
"But it's Christmas!" He said hugging me from behind and burying his head in the crook of my neck.
"We don't even have normal cushions Ashton! Let's get normal cushions first then we can worry about Christmas cushions next year; when we're settled in."
"But... we can get them now!"
"The couch we bought won't match with those cushions though." I said trying to reason with him. I was not big on Christmas. It wasn't that I hated it; I just didn't see the need to go all out with the green and red and the elves and the Santas... none of it ever really intrigued me. Calum did warn me that Ashton was like the epitome of Buddy the elf when it came to Christmas and I know if I told him to do the shopping alone today I was going to be staring at Christmas stuff all year.
"They would match!"
"Ashton... think about it! The cushions would not match with anything in the apartment and quite frankly; they're just plain hideous."
"Do you have a vendetta against Christmas trees?" He asked walking around to stand in front of me.
"No." I said trying to walk past him but he just moved in my way again. I rolled my eyes and started going the other way but he moved again. I was beginning to get frustrated because we had tons to do and Ashton being childish about not having a Christmas themed apartment was not helping the situation. "Ashton, behave. We've got so much to do."
"Fine." He grumbled taking my hand in his. He intertwined our fingers and pushing the cart with the other hand.
We were actually moving smoothly for the next few minutes as we picked out the stuff we would need for the apartment. That all went downhill when we got to the ware section and we had another argument.
"Ashton, we're not getting those glasses!" I said taking them out his hand and putting them back on the shelf.
"Why the hell not?!" He asked picking them up again. I sighed and took them out his hand, placing them on the shelf.
"Because!" I said picking up a normal glass and putting it in the cart. "I don't think I want to be drinking out of a Santa glass for twelve freaking months!"
"What is it with you and Christmas? Christmas is lovely."
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean the entire apartment needs to be like the North Pole. Who are you?"
"Why can't we get the damn glasses?"
"Ashton, think about it... do you want to spend all the money we have on holiday stuff? Why not get normal dishes then buy the fancy Christmas shit next year."
"Fancy Christmas shit? It's not shit and I honestly see no problem in using them all year round." He said moving over to the dishes. "Fine." He said picking up a plate which was also decorated with Christmas stuff. "We can take the boring drinking glasses but can we get these?"
"No." I said picking up some plane white ones. "We're getting these."
"But they're boring! I don't wanna eat out of a boring plate for an entire year. Let's get the Christmas ones."
"I'll get you some plastic Christmas plates if you want them so bad." I waved him off.
"I'm not a child!"
"Well, you're acting like one. Fine, Ashton... get the damn plates if it pleases you so much. I'm still getting the normal ones though. I don't know why you're so obsessed with them in the first place. God!"
"Stop being the Grinch." Ashton muttered as he dropped the plate into the cart. I cringed at the sound it made when it landed in the cart.
"Hopefully you break them all by March." I muttered under my breath as we moved on in the store.
"Can we get more Christmas stuff?" Ashton asked a while later and I groaned loudly. I really thought getting the plates would satisfy him.
"No."
"But we need more red and green stuff."
"Then buy some red lamps or a Christmas bed sheet or something."
"Babe, I'm not having sex with you when's Santa's face is printed on the sheet."
