7th January, 2014

"And there you have it folks; an hour of pretty awesome music from a pretty awesome chick." I smiled as I switched off the microphone, done with one of my shifts for the day. As if on cue, my phone started ringing and I answered it without even checking to see who it was.

"Go for Adri." I said picking up one of my many stress relief balls and squeezing it between my fingers.

"Babe?" I heard Ashton say nervously on the other end and I prepared myself for yet another wild adventure. He'd gotten a new job as a waiter just earlier this week at this really fancy restaurant that had just opened.

I bit my lip and swallowed my laugh as I remembered what his first day was like. I went with him the day before to pick up his uniform and he just about lost his shit and flipped out when he realized he didn't know how to tie, in his words, 'a decent tie'. He had spent almost an hour fussing over it before he allowed me to help him.

Then, when I thought everything was going to run smoothly, he called me on his first break to tell me that he had to get one of his co-workers to retie the tie because it was choking him. I made a mistake of pretending to care because he plunged into another story of how he was warned by his boss to wear a hair net whenever he was walking through the kitchen. He had me on the phone his entire break listing out all the reasons why it won't be best for him to wear a hair net and all of them surrounded the fact that any form of hat made him look like an alien.

"Yes, Ashton?" I said wearily glancing down at my watch to check the time. I groaned when I realized that it was his lunch break which meant that he was gonna keep me on the phone for an entire hour and I literally had no way out because my next show was in two hours.

"He wants me to cut my hair! Can you imagine that?! He wants me to cut my fucking hair."

"Why?"

"Because he's a minion of the antichrist. That's why."

"Ashton..."

"I might have maybe not been wearing my hairnet."

"It serves your ass right."

"Hey!" Ashton whined and I dropped my head to hide an involuntary blush. "That's not fair! I had a weird ass day."

"Yeah?"

"There was this old lady and I think she's stalking me."

"What the actual fuck?" I asked because I never thought I would hear those words coming out of his mouth. Yeah, Ashton was known for his stories but I could tell this was going to be the most ridiculous one yet.

"Yeah, babe." Ashton said in a serious tone and I put my hand over my mouth to stop myself from laughing out loud. The last thing I wanted was for him to think I was mocking him because then he'd get moody and a moody Ashton was an annoying Ashton.

"You think an old lady is stalking you?" I asked again, just to show him that I was listening and I cared about what he was about to tell me.

"Babe, I'm absolutely positive she's stalking me." He said and I let out an involuntary chuckle. In my defence, I was holding back my laugh for a really long time.

"How?"

"Well, you know how at first I didn't really want the job?" Ashton started and I groaned because this meant I was going to be getting a lot more than just the story about an old lady stalking him.

"It was like four days ago, Ashton. Of course I remember."

"Hey! I don't need your sass right now."
