Sam

I walked into GameStop already feeling awkward. I had no clue what I was doing. Everyone else scurried around the store, knowing exactly what they wanted and I felt lost. I knew I stuck out like a sore thumb by the way I was just standing there but there were so many games I didn't know where to begin.

"Ashley why couldn't you have said I was giving him candy? I can do candy. Candy is easy."

She nudged me in the side softly. "Don't be such a wuss. If you don't know what to get ask for some help."

"No" I set my jaw.

It was against the manly code to ever ask for help. It make us look weak and yeah I know its a stupid code but its something that I follow strictly. Just sometimes not as strictly as others.

"We've been standing here for 5 minutes already. Suck up whatever manly pride you have and just do it." Ashely scolded.

"Fine, fine." I muttered, walking to the front desk.

I was greeted with an overly cheerful worker.

"Hi! Welcome to GameStop. How may I help you?"

"Um....I need a...a game." I finished lamely.

The worker chuckled. "well then you came to the right place. Do you have any games in mind?"

I shook my head no.

"Well then what exactly are you looking for? We've got action, fantasy, Sci-Fi. . ." He paused and looked at me.

I just stared back blankly.

"Okay.... Im assuming you're not the gamer type."

"I'm really not. Im just here trying to buy a game for a friend."

The worker nodded. "age?"

"11" I said.

He eyed me warily for a moment before saying, "well we've got some great games for kids. Pokemon is always available and one of the most popular at the moment, or you could could with the new Mario game that came out."

"I uh.. . actually could I get a shooting game?" I asked, remembering that Tyler had said something about that before,

He nodded and led me to the back before handing me a game.

"Call Of Duty?" I read, the name felt strange on my tongue.

"Uh-huh. it's pretty wicked. Im sure your uh . . . 'friend' will enjoy it."

I nodded, ignoring the way his tone changed when he said friend.

"I'll take it."

Ashley was waiting outside of the store.

"It took you long enough."

"Hey don't judge, there are like, tons of games in there."

She just snorted in response.

"Besides if you didn't tell Tyler I was getting him a game, we wouldn't have had to come here."

"Okay. whatever."
