Once again, the photo up top has nothing to do with the oneshot, so imma just put it out there and say that if the photo does have anything to do with the story, I will let you know. On a totally different topic, please note that the relationship between Natasha and Clint is purely platonic, and that they are more like siblings. Also, the timeline is majorly fucked up so just go with it. On another note, James and Lily are dicks in this.

1995

It was late at night when the two ten year olds of opposite gender crashed into each other. Literally. They were on a deserted road, large warehouses loomed above in the dark night. The only light they had was the moon and the stars. They were at an intersection, and came from opposite directions. As the two tumbled to the ground, they rolled a number of times before coming to a stop, the girl on the top. She pulled a dagger from the holster on her sleeve and held it up to the boy's neck.

"Who are you? What are you doing here?" She asked. It was like an interrogation. But surprisingly, the boy chuckled.

"I could ask you the same thing." He flipped them over so that he was on top and brought his forearm to her neck. She glared at him and bucked her hips so that he flew off her before scrambling to her feet and getting in a defensive stance. The boy copied her movements.

"No. Who are you really? What are you doing here?" She growled and the boy was honestly very intimidated but he kept up his playful facade.

"I'm on the run. I would assume the same would go for you." He got up from his stance and put his hands in his pockets. The girl did the same, now seeing that he wasn't a threat, and sheathed her dagger before crossing her arms.

"Well then, I guess we're in the same boat. A truce then? An alliship, perhaps?" She asked him. He nodded.

"Us runaway's gotta stick together." He grinned at her.

It was two months until they even just learned each other's names, and another three before they told each other their backgrounds. About their pasts. The two did not trust easily, but by the end of the fifth month that they had been together, they trusted each other with their lives, which they had to do a few times.

The two traveled across America, just because they could. They stole food and money and hitched rides on the back of trucks or on the roofs of buses and trains. At first, they didn't talk much to each other, but they soon got bored of the silence and in the second week, began chatting.

At the end of the sixth month, they hacked into a large business, stole some money, created fake passports, and took a ferry to Europe. Just because they could. The girl refused to fly, she had said, 'I am not going to go up in the air in that flying metal death trap. It's like one of those boxes from magic tricks, they give the allusion that they are transporting something somewhere, but in reality they are just dropping out the other end onto the floor!' The boy decided it was best not to argue with her, so they took the ferry.

"Well Natasha," The boy started speaking. It wasn't her real name, just the one they put on the fake passport, so they decided it was best to just use the names they gave themselves while on the ferry so that people didn't get suspicious. "What do you think we'll do when we get there? To Europe." He asks. Natasha hummed for a second.

"I think I'd like to go to school. Try to be normal, at least for a little, you know? What about you?" She responded. The boy nodded in response.

"Who would have thought, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff. Hawkeye and the Black Widow. Jake Ferlow (totally made up) and Percy Jackson, attempting to be normal." The two chuckled. "You know, I've never really thought about being normal. Of course, we'll never be completely normal. I was in a crime circus and you were in a place that trained little girls to be master assassin's and ballerinas. There was never even a little hope for us to just be normal once we got started with that. But ya, I agree. I'll take as normal as we can get. Unless we find something fun to do. I'll take fun and crazy over boring and normal any day." Natasha laughed at Clint. This was were she wanted to be, to stay. Somewhere were she could just run away from her problems and her past. Somewhere where she could start over.
