New York

"Do you really have to go back to Seoul? You can stay here longer," said the beautifully aged woman who was sitting across from me. She was wearing a soft caramel dress and was adorned with gold pieces of jewelry on her wrist and earlobes.

"I told you I can't leave Obok for long at the dog hotel. He will miss me," I replied as I flipped the brochure she had given me to check on a couple of houses she's planning to purchase.

"The dog or someone else?" said the man who was wearing a pinstriped suit as he sipped his morning coffee.

"Maybe both?" a hint of amusement escaped from my voice as I gave out a sigh at the end. I closed the brochure and placed it down on the empty seat beside me. It was eight AM and the sunlight was excessively pouring in the drawing-room through the eight feet tall French windows. I studied the two people in front of me with an inquisitive gaze as they go about their morning routine.

Susan Jeong or much known as Sussie was a beautiful woman in her mid-50s. She was a big-time real estate agent back in her prime days before she got in the elite circle. Now, one of her hobbies was to buy apartments all throughout New York and redevelop it then sell it triple the price she had paid for. She was witty, easy-going, and socially active in contrast to the man sitting beside her.

Nathaniel Bradshaw or Nat as people close to him calls him was a top broker at Wall Street. He was the third son of the Bradshaw family, who currently owns the most restaurants and food market in the city, thus earning the family a spot on the Top Five richest family in New York. But instead of taking on some of the family business, he decided to pursue his dream as a stockbroker, and it ended pretty well for him.

Nat was a firm person who demands perfection in every turn. He likes everything to go his way especially at his work to which he was the CEO. Well, with two exceptions : me and money. As the 'only' son, he has kind of given me the freedom to decide what I want to do with my life. Plus the hefty inheritance that I received from my grandmother helped me a lot. If not for that money, I have no doubt that he would control me in every turn.

"So are you going to introduce him to us?" Sussie asked to keep the conversation going.

"Yeah, I already mentioned it to him,"

"Is he the one? " Nat asked without looking at me.

"Yes,"

"Finally! Are we finally going to see you settle down?" Sussie asked, clearly with expectation.
