Steven's POV
'RING! RING! RING!'
I snooze off my alarm and I let out a groan. I slowly get off the bed and I rub my face.
I pick up my phone and check the time. It's almost time for my shift at the photo store.
I've been living in a cheap and shitty apartment for so long. I have to work just to pay the rent and buy food.
And it's been four years. Four fucking years and no sign of Aurora. And four years trying to keep me alive and searching for her.
I even have to change my appearance so no one will suspect me. I dyed my hair black and got a new hairstyle. I even wear dark blue contacts and putting them on every day is tiring. I noticed that I've been losing some weight. And I have gone a bit paler.
When I first moved here, I didn't know what to do. I have been searching for a place to stay and also trying to search for a job. That's when I started to pull my shit together. I went through a lot of things and that's how I ended up here.
I pick up my towel and take a quick bath.
But before going into the bathroom, I decided to play some music. I walk towards a table right next to the door, turn on my bluetooth speaker, and connect it to my phone. I pick the same music that I play almost every day.
I put it on loop before putting my phone down and heading inside the bathroom.
___
After taking a bath, I quickly put on some clothes. I walk into the kitchen, grab a mug, and pour myself a cup of coffee.
"Another boring day."
"Just shut up," I said.
"And another day eating nothing but coffee."
"I don't mind," I said.
"Don't you think you should just give up? You're pretty much stuck with me."
I finished my cup of coffee and put it on the sink. Then I just grab my bag and put it in the same stuff - a book that I've been reading lately, and it's my nineteenth time reading it, my headphones, my camera, cigarettes, and a lighter. After putting in the stuff that I need for the day, I zip up my bag and grab my jacket and a pair of socks.
I put on my jacket before putting on my socks. Then I walk towards the door and pick up my phone and stop the music. I turn off the Bluetooth speaker and I put on my shoes. I grab my keys and head out.
I lock the door and start walking towards the elevator.
"Good morning, Seth." I looked to my right and I saw Mr. Creed, one of the people living on the same floor as me.
Oh yeah, I changed my name to Seth. I can't just walk around and live with my real name.
"Good morning, Mr. Creed." I greeted. "You going out?"
"Yeah, I'm taking my dog out for a walk. Going to work today?" He asked.
"Just like any other day," I said.
