"Dad, do I have to go to this party with you?" I asked as I got into the passenger seat of my dad's car.
My dad, Chris Jericho, hopped into the driver's seat and started the car.
"Riley, you've been locked away in your room for the past week," Chris said, glancing at me after putting the car into gear.
"Yeah, dad," I said a little annoyed. "A breakup will do that to you."
Chris sighed and placed a hand on my knee.
"Just try to have a good time, okay?" He asked before placing his hand back on the wheel.
I just nodded and looked out the window. I knew my dad was just trying to help, but the last thing I wanted to do after a breakup was go to a party with a bunch of his wrestling buddies. When we finally arrived, I looked up at the building and noticed that it was a giant arcade. I looked at my dad with a confused look on my face.
"What?" He said with a smirk. "Just cause we wrestle doesn't mean we don't like to have fun."
Chris chuckled and got out of the car. I follow suite and walked with my dad into the arcade. The building was full of AEW wrestlers, and I even notice Tony Kahn and the announce team sitting over in a corner.
"Chris!" I heard someone call my dad's name.
I looked over and saw MJF walking towards the two of us.
"It's about time you got here," Max said, giving Chris a fist bump. "And I see you brought some company."
Max smirked at me and I felt a blush creep up on my face. I looked away from him and crossed my arms over my chest. My dad knew I had a crush on Max, that's probably why he was so adament about me coming with him today.
"I figured she needed to get out of the house," Chris said, shrugging. "She's going through a breakup, so she's been locked in her room for over a week."
"Dad!" I protested as Chris told Max about my breakup.
Chris chuckled and gave me a side hug. I scoffed and walked away once I saw Matt and Nick Jackson over by one of the arcade machines. They both gave me a hug once they saw me, because they knew what I was going through. They treated me like a little sister ever since I started coming to AEW shows with my dad.
"How you feeling, Riley?" Matt asked.
"I mean, I don't really wanna be here, but I guess it's better than sitting at home being depressed," I said with a shrug.
They two of them invited met to play air hockey with them, and I happily accepted. After a while of playing different arcade games with the brothers and getting something to eat, my dad walked up and challenged the Bucks to a game of laser tag.
It was going to be the my dad, Max, Jake, Santana, and Sammy against Kenny, Matt, Nick, and Hangman.
"I'll join the Elite's team since they are one short," I said standing with them as we started getting geared up.
"Sounds good to us," Matt and Nick said.
Once everyone was geared up, we entered the team entrances into the laser tag course. Let me just say one thing... This place was HUGE. The laser tag field was two stories tall. Once we heard the buzzer sound, we all split up and started looking for members of the other team.
I tuck and rolled from hiding spot to hiding spot, shooting members of my dad's team as I went along. So far, it was a really close game. We were tied right now. I was running around the bottom floor of the course while everyone else was upstairs. I didn't know if anyone else was down here, but I was sweeping it just in case someone was hiding.
As I went around the corner, I ran into someone making me stumble back a little bit. Once I was balanced, I saw that it was Max that I had run into. I blushed a little bit and cleared my throat.
"Sorry," I said shyly.
"Don't worry about it," Max said. "I didn't expect to run into anyone down here."
"Neither did I," I said with a chuckle. "I figured everyone was on the top floor."
"Well, I guess we had the same idea," Max said with a smirk. "By the way, I'm sorry about your breakup."
"I can't believe my dad told you about that," I said running a hand through my hair.
"Well, dad's usually overshare," Max said with a chuckle. "Just like he also shared that you have a tiny crush on a certain co-worker of his."
It was in that moment that I was happy that the room was dark except for the neon lights shining. I could feel my face heating up from embarassment.
"Look, I'm sorry if my dad saying that made you uncomfortable," I said with a sigh. "He's always trying to play match maker."
Max let out a chuckle and looked at me with a mischievious smirk. I was about to ask him what he was smirking about, but before I could say anything, I was pushed back against the wall. I let out a gasp and looked up at Max. He was still holding his laser tag gun in his right hand, but his left hand was against the wall beside my head. As I looked into his eyes, I could feel my heart starting to race.
After a few seconds of silence, Max leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. I didn't hesitate to kiss back which cause him to smile into the kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer to me as he kissed me harder. The kiss heated up as our tongues battled for dominance.
The kiss ended too soon as Max pulled away and leaned his forehead against mine. We were both breathing heavy as we looked at each other. The moment was ruined though when Max got an evil smirk on his face. I got a confused look on my face, but I quickly understood when I heard the sound of the laser tag gun going off and the announcement that my dad's team had won.
I looked at Max shocked. He gave me a wink before turning and walking away. That bastard has just shot me to win the game. I stood there dumbfounded for a few seconds before following behind him with a small smile on my face.
