"Darby, let's go!" Nala called from the bottom of the stairs, "We're already losing daylight, and the skatepark closes in 2 hours!"

Nala could hear Darby sigh from the second floor before he emerged with skateboard in hand. He descended the stairs and looked at his girlfriend, who was eagerly waiting to leave.

"Alright, alright," Darby said, opening the door for her. "Let's get going before you start spinning in circles."

Nala let out that cute laugh that Darby loved to hear before exiting the house. The two rode their skateboards down to the park that was only 5 minutes from their house. Nala was so eager to get there because she had been practicing a new trick and wanted to practice more so that she could finally perfect it.

When they arrived, Darby went over to the bowl to glide around for awhile, while Nala went over to the halfpipe to practice a little bit more. Nala loved that even though Darby and her shared the same love of skateboarding, that they could still do their own things and not have to fight over the halfpipe.

"Hey, baby!"

Nala had just landed at the top of the halfpipe to take a break when she heard Darby call out to her. She looked over to see that he was standing at the edge of the bowl, waving her over. She slid down the halfpipe and walked over to him.

"What's up?" Nala asked with a head tilt.

Darby loved when she tilted her head like that, she looked adorable.

"I wanted to show you a new trick that I've been working on," Darby said, picking up his board.

Nala nodded and stood back a little bit, while Darby dropped into the bowl. Nala watched as Darby started doing the normal tricks that he did, but then he tried to do something different.

Nala let out a gasp when Darby didn't land the trick and wiped out. He didn't get back up after the wipeout, which worried Nala even more. She jumped down into the bowl and ran over to Darby.

She kneeled down beside him, checking if he was okay, worry filling her voice as she did.

Darby stayed silent for a moment before he finally went to get up, but instead of standing fully, he got up to one knee and pulled a little velvet box out of his pocket and opened it in front of Nala.

Nala let out another gasp, but this time it was a gasp of shock. Inside that little velvet box, was a beautiful ring.

"You aren't serious," Nala said, with tears coming to her eyes.

"I'm as serious as I've ever been," Darby said with a small smile. "You have been there by my side through so much. You never left when my work schedule would get crazy. You're always there when I'm doing crazy stunts."

Nala felt a single tear slide down her cheek as Darby continued.

"You make me the happiest that I have ever been, and, even though I can be a really messed up individual sometimes, I want you to be in my life forever. So, if you're really going to make me ask.... Will you do the honor of being my wife?"

Nala fell to her knees and hugged Darby tightly before kissing him passionately. Darby stood up, never breaking the kiss. When they finally pulled apart, Darby leaned his forehead against hers.

"So, is that a yes?" Darby said with a slight chuckle.

"Of course it is, you idiot," Nala replied.

Darby kissed her again before slipping the ring on her finger. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that it fit her perfectly. The two shared one last kiss before grabbing their skateboards and walking home hand in hand. Nala admiring her ring the whole way home.
